The Rafa Benitez Thread

That watertight contract everyone was giving him credit for while making claims it was the main reason a man of his stature and integrity would work for a crook like Ashley was a load of bollocks then.

A written guarantee means fuck all with this mob. They'll break it then just keep it tied up in the courts should the manager claim constructive dismissal. They'll then settle or lose but only have to pay up a few million compared to the umpteen millions they trouser every season.

It's pure spin to try and emphasize Rafa's credibility.

Ongoing talks, if the hierarchy had a semblance of sense they wouldabree to Nenitez terms and let him get on with it instead of dragging it out as per their usual business. Ashley and his cohorts know nothing about football and Benitez knows a lot. It's simple but not for Charnley/Ashley who are prepared to work on a day to day basis.
They deserve to lose the man who has taken them to mid table in the first season back. Just look at Pardew who has dragged another team to relegation with the assistance of Carver, Maclaren who has done note and Allardyce who Everton fans don't want. Where would w have finished with any of them in charge this season.

Proper budgets are being mentioned in the press now with John Richardson of The Mirror, who seems close to Rafa, saying he's getting £80m. This follows on from Craig Hope saying £50m earlier.

£80m is a figure that's been touched on, on here, a couple of times and if it's that plus the proceeds of any potential sales then I see no reason why Rafa couldn't progress with that.

Obviously the proof will be in the pudding and I guess a deadline of August 10th will have been unofficially given by Rafa for deals to be done in order for him to agree a new deal. If not and if the amount is similar to other windows then it'll take a miracle for him to be here when his deal runs out at this time next year.

The only way he will be £80m is if someone pays £50m each for two of our existing players. Which 'aint gonna happen. I reckon £20m plus 70% of proceeds from player sales.

I did the sums on another thread. Basically, revenues minus costs and add in the transfer instalments from the relegation sales, £80m net is a realistic figure. Any other sales hopefully bring in more cash and in any event, you can't have more than 25 senior players in a squad so some will have to go.

Have you taken the "loans into account rex ?
The last one was 30 odd million, apparently actioned to help us cope with relegation

Yes PM.

Of that last loan, a chunk went back into one of Ashley's other piggy banks so off the top of my head it was something like a net £8m.

That brings me to last summer's budget. We know Ashley likes dealing in cash but in order to get the deals, Sissoko and probably Wijnaldum were in instalments, also the Thavin money came in. When we finally see the accounts, I think we will see that FCB has taken the balance back too.

The rest went into last summer's paltry net budget.

My guess is the season ticket money, first tranche of Premier League cash and those instalments covered the transfer budget and wages until the 2nd Premier League payment came in.

Seemingly the board have had talks with him already with more this week,A few others are also getting interviewed but Rafa is their no.one target. He would be mad coming hear as the porno brothers and that Brady slag make MA look like Prince Charming.

I wouldn’t wish Moyes on anyone, personally I wouldn’t be surprised if he went back to Everton. Its the return of the Hippo I fear most tbh.

Why would Benitez trade working for one (unt with working for three ?

(had to edit this as swear words appear to be being starred out, we're grown ups for ffs . The tw@ts )

Can't believe this rumour is still going. Even Rafa himself said yesterday on Spanish radio that the only club he is talking to at present is us.

He still has just over a year left on his deal and would be in breach of contract unless we were approached.

I can hear the conversation now.

Brady - "Mike, can we chat about your manager?"

Ashley - "Kerching"

Rafa's representatives have been talking to Charnley for 3 and a half weeks.
Why has this not been concluded one way or the other.
Questions should be aimed at Chump Charnley, who seem to escape all the flak but he is culpable as well, he bows and scrapes to Ashley and as we are well aware works at a snails pace. The local rag should be questioning this not regurgitating old nonsense news and stating the obvious.
Also Has there been a decision on Beardsley. Who knows.

It wont be concluded as there's been no transfer business yet. Rafa wont renew until he sees proof that there will be a spend and even then I would doubt he would sign a new deal until the window is closed. All down to a lack of trust.
