The Premier League 2025-26 Thread

Dyche doesn't need or want the job, so he's holding all the cards. Why ask for a bonus ? Spurs are toxic and I don't think anyone can turn the super tanker around.

"So if I take this gig on, you're going to make it worth my while, whether I keep you up or not". Not something he's actually said but what I imagine his stance would be. He's a genuine guy, so he would give it his best shot, but why would he limit his earnings by tying himself to a bonus to achieve an impossible task.

So re Forest - in his shoes, you’d just stay quiet and carry the blame for the entire catalogue of mistakes made by others at the club over the last nine months?

Football owners and fans always look for the easiest guy to blame. Any manager has every right to point out what he inherited rather than let it all be blamed on himself. He had to work with new players you were the first to say werent good enough. Hes not protecting himself with us hes just refused to become the latest scapegoat at our club.

He said in the interview - he thought we were on track, not brilliant and wanted to do better.

Fair enough IMO

Woah woah woah, firstly don’t make stuff up …. I’ve never said he’s working with players that ‘weren’t good enough’. Quite the opposite - I’ve argued with you that we do have good players and they’ve been mismanaged. Me not liking Ndoye and McAtee doesn’t mean I think the whole squad isnt good enough.
Thats YOUR opinion and ive challenged that view and said how can a side that made Europe last season suddenly not be good enough to stay up?

I don’t expect Dyche to take the blame for everything at all…but I don’t expect him to alleviate himself of any blame whatsoever. can you name me a single game in his shit tenure where he took ANY responsibility for a performance or a result?

If your answer is ‘no’, which it has to be because he never did, that’s why he’s a self serving bull shit salesman. Even Ange, who was dogshit, took some blame.

The first point I said "new players" who werent good enough.

The last point

The team is without Wood who scored 20 when his chances should have given him 14

And Elanga who scored and assisted 16

And we cant score from set pieces - maybe we miss Wood taking some attention from defending Milo. Theres 5 goals Milo scored and none this season.

But take those goals and assists from a team and dont replace and youve got problems clearly

As 4 managers have now discovered

One knew it before the season started. As did Dyche if you believe him

So when a team doesnt win is it always the managers fault?

Im going to say this squad is a 12th to 14th position squad at its very best

But even if you think its better than that you will only expect to win 30 to 40 per cent of games even when the manager gets everything right

Do you have a need to blame someone every time we fail Will?

Is that what this is all about?

Dyche record at Forest in EPL

Won 6
Drew 4
Lost 8

Those results put him 12th in EPL

So what results is he to blame for?

Or arent they just expected results from the level we are at pretty much?

This old chestnut. Name me the manager that publically "took responsibility" for a result, in terms of saying he was to blame for getting his tactics wrong, in the last 5 years?

You didn't like the football, you made your mind up before Aston Villa and then used that game as an excuse/justification for going all out against him

There was no justification in the results.

His last five games, which you demanded were a sackable offence (one defeat) had a better points per game haul than Pereira's first five

Everton home and away, Fulham away, Palace at home, Wolves at home, Villa away. Those 6 games were woeful and probably the ones which caused him to lose his job.

Palace at home?

Where we were winning, cruising, only for the players to fuck up on a set piece at the end of the half and go down to ten men?

And then be the better team for a whole half a man down?

So easy to casually throw this garbage out there, and then you'll no doubt get outraged and abusive again on being challenged

Wasn't garbage at all. We were shocking against the weakest Palace team we will ever play, and aside from the first 10 mins we were totally outplayed and out chanced.

Second half when we didn't have to play, but dig in and defend, just highlighted how poor that first half performance was. One of the worst displays of the season in the first half.

and calm down about being challenged and abused. As many posters frequently post about your condescending tone if they dare to disagree. You were at the game v Palace. We were crap first half against that line up. Massive opportunity and 2 points lost, which was the same v Wolves and recently (albeit unluckily) v Fulham

I was literally there, in the ground. None of that is true

They gave us some problems with their wingbacks, exactly as they did in the away game- exactly as they always do, and do to every team. That was it.

We looked more likely to score than them, and we were comfortable.

I am as pessimistic as anyone and I was comfortable.

It did no such thing. We switched to playing on the counter, because they were attacking our box a lot more because they had the extra man.

We defended brilliantly in a way we didn't have to in the first half. We had less of the ball and hit them on the break more, because they felt they had to camp in our final third and that opened the opportunities.

I disagree entirely, we were winning and comfortable, and that was all that mattered. I didn't feel a goal against was coming and the corner goal was exceptionally disappointing, and a real gift to them- just like ours at Spurs was to us.

Neco made two brilliant stops. (not including the pen lol) on a goal bound header. I cannot recall one other chance in that game outside of the goal.

They had 14 attempts at goal, 3 on target, we had 1. The XG was 1.93 for them, 0.49 for us (I dont hold much store in that stat generally) but it showed that against a very, very weak Palace team we didn't threaten, and were lucky to even draw.

If the draw ws against a Palace team including Guehi, Wharton, Mateta, (Strand Larson, Guessand were signed this weekend) then maybe it was a good result. But it had none of those players and Sarr was just back from winning Afcon.

We were at full strength.

You are throwing XG at this debate?

We had plenty of opportunities that did not result in shots, which is why xg is such a bollocks stat. Plenty of inviting balls put across goal that no one is there to meet, plenty of excellent opportunities created but the player slides in and just doesn't connect. That happened sometimes, but if it's not a shot, it's not XG

Of course, I could start with the argument that, had we had Chris Wood, or an actual striker up front, we would have had someone on the end of those.

Palace had one big chance that their wingback put across goal and they missed. One moment of heart in mouth. That was it.

And we were not at full strength, were we? We haven't been since October

Can you imagine Dyche going to Spurs and keeping them up?

Of course it will be nothing to do with Dyche if they do stay up; it will be down to the players.

The poor misunderstood players who have lost their identity, who have been poorly prepared for games and have not been coached properly.

All they needed was a manager who understood the nuts and bolts and prepared them for games in the right wa...Oh!

I think if Spurs are looking at people with a connection to the club, they should go for Chris Hughton- and he was good in the Championshp with Brighton- got them promoted.

I agree. Dyche will take the job but it won’t be on a 7 game basis. 14 month deal so Spurs would have to pay him to get Poch / De Zerbi

I’m not convinced he’d keep them up personally
Surely he’s already being paid for the rest of the duration of the 18 month contract he had with us. If he gets a contract with spurs it would just void what we are paying him so not much to be gained financially I would think unless spurs offer lots more than he was getting from us

If he does get the job he'd better hope those 15% of players, 15% of agents and 15% of fans aren't out to get him again.

That pesky bloody 15% who dictate everything!

Are you joking? Pereira has already taken responsibility for some of the poor performances like Brighton - he certainly didn’t throw the players under the bus at every opportunity… you think no manager has ever taken the blame for bad results? Cooper did it nearly every week

I am sure he would win them over soon enough.

The Spurs faithful appreciate nothing more than free flowing football

It will be the bitterest of ironies if he did get the gig and kept them up at our expense, although, I cannot see them appointing him.

He does have good contacts within the media and something would have broken before now if he was in the frame.
