The Premier League 2025-26 Thread

Why is it people are now ok with that fact Luiz was not fit when he got here and needs resting and this played into him having to be subbed half time of Betis game; yet for Nuno he was apparently being deliberately difficult and throwing toys out of he pram for not immediately playing him 😂😂😂
I think its become obvious since Nuno left and Ange spoke about him, the Luiz situation wasn't about politics.

So the answer to your question is that people made bad assumptions. It happens when we aren't getting the info.

The fact he was on the bench seemed to feed those sssumptions.

If he isn't fit to come off the bench, he shouldn't be on it.

And if he is fit to be on the bench, Nuno should have brought him off it for the West Ham game at least, where we needed an injection of some quality.

Not sure I recall anyone demanding that Luiz start at Palace and West Ham, especially if fitness was an issue.

There were people definitely not happy that he did not make his debut at the city ground against West Ham and people definitely said Nuno was playing politics and being difficult in not using him.

We have seen both Nuno and Cooper in the past state players were on the bench and only had sign off from medical for a small amount of minutes. Pretty sure I remember us being told Awonyi was only fit for 15 before but still was on the bench. Maybe Luiz was on the bench in the hope the game was sewn up and we could throw him on for 10 mins at the end without need to break a sweat to give those who wanted a debut their wish. I dunno that's another assumption but I guess that doesn't paint Nuno as the villain.

So on the flip side of that, a loss doesn't buy him any time and he'll be gone.
He isn't going anywhere. The results will come.
In the last 4 matches we have had a total of over 80 shots!
The football is good - the frustration is in all of the missed chances.
I am not over- criticizing Wood but in his last 3 games West Ham, Burnley & Sunderland - he missed 6 or more chances that he put away last season.
Iraola didn't win any of his first 9 matches as Bournemouth manager and that was after a full pre-season - that is the best comparison to make for such a drastic change in tactics

I'm not saying he is going, mate, it's ForestInIreland that is.

This time last season Palace couldn’t buy a win. Even a draw was difficult. They were down with the Ipswich of the world until New Year. Last time I looked they had won cup, in Europe and were 14 without defeat. Basically it was the same players in first 14 games as it was in last 14. It takes time to mould a team from individuals. Each has to know their role and for it to be second nature. Palace played pretty much same team season before and had a full pre season. 5 games is not enough to judge.

The first halves in Swansea and Seville were good to excellent. Shame slip ups brought negative response. Burnley and Sunderland we had plenty of chances though not so dominant. A mistake in each game was harsh.

It will come. Be patient. Changing style, setup, personnel and system whilst rotating squad has costs.

Just had a check and Palace are unbeaten in 18, and have lost games out their last 36..!!!

I said after the Sunderland game that we should have beaten them, and we should have, but based on that game, and the one at Selhurst end of last season they did look bang average. But 4 losses in 36, and none in the last 18....

Wow

People including me have been moaning about the performances of our new signings & it is clear it’s going to take for them to bed in.
Interesting to see this morning that people including Carragher are calling for Wirz to be dropped at Liverpool & he cost them over £100m.
Sort of puts into perspective how difficult it can be for players from other leagues to get to grips with the demands of premier league

Watched Liverpool last night, there were quite some parallels with us I thought as they also look very vulnerable defensively, not that I take much solace from it !

I agree with the sentiment of posters like Cornish but maybe not quite to the same extent, strett has made me rethink a little. We have to give this more time, I'm not confident myself but let's get behind the players and see where we are end of October.

We need Arsenal to do their job against West Ham today, or we spend the international break in the bottom three for certain
