The Premier League 2024-25 Thread

Surely you can't change rules retrospectively for this year. Club A has stuck to the old rules all season. Forest have overspent, but get away with it because the rules change retrospectively . It wouldn't be fair on club A. The idea of the rules is to stop clubs overspending pre-season and in January, not that you overspend then have two weeks to bail yourself out at the end of the season.
The rules changed retrospectively to give us a points deduction

They changed ? We might have got the points deduction in a different season , and we might have had certain things disallowed, but I find it difficult to believe that they said we could lose (say) £35 million in a season, then punished us (say) for losing £30 million. How exactly did the rules change ?

As in, writeoffs incurred under EFL jurisdiction and not disputed by the EFL were then disputed by the Premier League- about 7 months after they were submitted.

It was a disgrace

They may have delayed decisions, but they didn't retrospectively alter the rules as to how much we were allowed to lose. The courts would have been all over that.

sorry, yeah thats what i meant, they predict us and Wolves to go down? but saints and leics to stay up. Arent Leicester getting a points deduction?

Everton not out of the woods. 777 is in insolvency and TFG has pulled out as they couldn’t under write Everton and Roma’s rebuild at same time. Admin and 10 points look a distinct option. The club owe £1b and interest is piling up.

Man Utd refused to meet Everton’s valuation of £80m for Branthwaite. Although Everton have the Onana money they assumed Man Utd would come back for the big CB. Now Utd have spent most of that money elsewhere. Without selling big they are unable to enter the market again. Can’t see them offering Calvert Lewin the wages he wants. Even without going in to administration, think Everton will struggle. Run of injuries and they are gone.

super computer has them mid table above Fulham. should be ok but you never know.

I’m curious on Ipswich’s level of spend already and what is to come
With a year of L1 allowance, 1 in the championship and 1 for the premier league, that total is around £50-52m? (Not sure the L1 allowance, so assuming £4m..?

Already Greaves, Delap, and Hutchinson is around £55m with no player sales

Are they in trouble for next year already?
