The Premier League 2024-25 Thread

Doesn't this have to be for the last 3 years since the PSR ruling is applied over a 3 year period? We don't know the inflation number for next year yet (assuming it's calculated from CPI and not just made up).

So it all comes down to what year Villa want it changing from and whether the other 14 clubs want to help or hinder their rivals. The prospect of bargains Vs their own longer term benefit.

If Villa are in need to sell this year, surely they are pushing for it now, not next year?

I thought the whole reason for the Villa proposal was that they are in the champions league and need to strengthen NOW, not next year or year after?

Good point. They are clearly close to breaching by June 30th then, so surely their proposal would be looking for approval this year?

Yep. Villa will want it in so it can affect the accounts up to the end of this month. Whether other teams will agree to that is a different matter.

If we are getting a new system from 25/26 then bringing it in for next season would be pointless.

Which is interesting, because it would be retrospective.

It could potentially return points to Everton, but not to us

That could change the prize money for a number of other clubs unless they fudge it?

There is a tweet in the John Percy link from someone who suggests the requested increase only be for clubs in Europe. Not sure if that is true but if so it would explain the voting.
That would make more sense. Why they didn’t have a vote for moving the cut off point to the end of August rather than the 30th June I don’t know. That would have made the system a bit fairer

SCR nd TBA too be brought in f or 24/25 season to work alongside present PSR, as a trial on non binding basis. Lawyers field day.

If Forest didn’t. Vote for this, then suggestion is they are within limits as are others or have assets to sell.

That was Crystal Palace's separate suggestion to be voted on
WTF are Palace interested in the Europe discussion for? They are nowhere near it, and will be further away from it next year once Olise, Guehi and Eze are sold. Plus one of their keepers and maybe even Wharton

Surely you can't change rules retrospectively for this year. Club A has stuck to the old rules all season. Forest have overspent, but get away with it because the rules change retrospectively . It wouldn't be fair on club A. The idea of the rules is to stop clubs overspending pre-season and in January, not that you overspend then have two weeks to bail yourself out at the end of the season.
