The Premier League 2024-25 Thread

If i was McKenna I’d want to stay at Ipswich - I’m sure if they go down they would still keep him as he got back to back..

Thomas Tuchel back to Chelsea or to Man U i think.

The weird one is ZZ i have no idea where he wants to go…

Bookies offer odds of 25/1 for Man City being relegated. Rumours are that Man City will face charges in Oct Nov. Media are arguing it could be tied up for months even years after appeal and counter. Both Everton and Forest had points deducted immediately pending a hearing. Both Everton and ourselves had a vested interest in speeding up process rather than slowing it down. Surely it will be same for the big clubs. Penalty is immediate.

I certainly hope so.

The fact that you hope so is exactly why the bookies have odds on it.
People are more likely to bet on ridiculous things if they want them to happen.
If the odds are good enough and if you can afford to lose your stake then go for it I say…

couldn't agree more Pope, they don't deserve any success do they
And yet some would have us do a “Chelsea “ by changing the manager every five seconds. Anything worth having takes time to build. If we’re ever to get out of perennial relegation syndrome, we need to start building some stability at the club.

Man City are down to 25/1 to be relegated the bookies obviously suspect something, even if they get double the biggest ever points deduction it’s still possible they’d stay up though

Incredibly even if they got a 60 point penalty they probably would stay up! They would have this season!

I'm no maths savant but 115 charges at 2 pts for a guilty.

let's be generous and say they are only guilty for 100 of those= 200 pts.

that's enough to relegate them.

Yes that is what I’m saying & 60 points would be double the biggest deduction ever. Even if they get the deduction there’ll be an appeal as well I’m sure which would then no doubt take them past next season

Even if they were relegated they have apparently now actually legitimised a lot of their revenue so they’d be straight back up after winning every single game in championship & probably winning at least the league cup & then be straight back into the top 4 at the very least.

The problem Man City have is that Pep has a year on his contract and has said he is closer to leaving than staying. You would have to think that if anything happened he would walk at the end of next season at the very latest.

That is going to hurt.

Thing is, would the Man City squad be as focused and motivated to avoid relegation as they are to win the league? They're capable of putting together a serious points haul, but they've had Arsenal breathing down their necks the last two seasons and they've had to be absolutely on their game. They'd obviously still be better than most of the league, but I'd bet they wouldn't be firing in the same way as hunting down a 5th straight title.

Ageing squad. Many well into 30’s. Needs rebuilding. If not in champions league, or even PL money dries up for rebuild, top players can’t wait four years whist rebuild takes place.
