The Premier League 2024-25 Thread

Plenty to look forward to next season.
Much better football and much more entertainment - without getting the results - this season than last.
Tighten up at the back, a fair deal from VAR & the refs, a couple of astute signings and we can look forward with confidence next season to mid-table mediocrity!

Dirty Leeds to come up for me - don’t like them one bit - but like us they are a proper football club.

Last thought - I honestly am not sure whether I want Derby to get relegated or promoted - in some ways it would be good to have EPL derbies against them.
I can’t believe I wrote that last bit
I would be happy for them to remain in League One forever.

In fairness all four of the prayoff teams are ‘proper’ clubs whether I like them or not.

And I really do want Derby to be relegated again.

Just because the Luton myth annoys me, along the constant nonsense of other fans basically telling us we were terrible (which is kinda true ish) and/or lucky. Did a little bit of random research. As far as I can tell we currently hold the second largest margin of amassed points for a team finishing just outside of the relegation zone in Prem history. Top 3 as follows:

1: Burnley 11 Points - 20/21
2: Forest 10 Points - 23/24
3: Derby 8 Points - 00/01

Our 36 amassed points and goal difference would also have been enough to see us safe in at least half of the seasons since the 38 match format was introduced.

But yeah, we were lucky right?

it certainly didn't hurt the PL for a narrative that had the relegation 'battle' as going up to the final game.

there was no battle but for the pts deduction. had forest gone down, they would be facing the mother of all compensation claims.

Important dates to look out for

Friday June 14th - Transfer window opens

Tuesday June 18th - Fixtures released

The weekend of August 11th - Opening fixtures

Friday August 30th - Transfer window closes
Thanks.

With it being a leap year, what date is the summer solstice?

a lot a change around the clubs then now. Interesting to see what happens, will Liverpool changed, Chelsea, Munich, Barca, Brighton, West Ham, and potential Utd needing a change too.

that's quite a bit of movement.

I did see a story about Munich being interested in Thomas Frank.

So for the above the following managers are available/or rumoured:

Jose
ZZ
Flick
Conte
Allegri
Cooper
Lopetegui
Amorim
Sarri
Di Zerbi
Potter

And obviously Big Sam

so a bit of musical chairs in my head

Chelsea – Allegri, Amorim

Munich - Flick, ZZ

Barca No clue (ETH?)

Brighton – Amorim, Potter

Wham - Lopetegui

Utd – ZZ, Di Zerbi

Forest – Jose, Di Zerbi (although I dont think we will twist on Nuno)

Bild have linked about 15 different people with the Munich job- including Nuno apparently
