The Premier League 2024-25 Thread

Two absolutely delicious bits of news from our neighbours Leicester:

Leicester have made a combined loss of £201.6million over the three-year period ending June 30, 2024. Under PSR rules they were permitted to lose a maximum of £81million over that time, adjusted for deductions.

And Russell Martin 🤣 will be their new boss

What a disastrous appointment Van Nistelrooy was for them. And yet clubs continue to appoint ex-pros with no managerial experience on account of the fame they used to have as players.

Man U don't have to protect any players next Sunday. They will have played their final before then

Amorim won't lie down for villa either

I'm more confident of one of Newcastle or Villa failing to win than I am of us beating Chelsea though

If we do beat Chelsea its all good anyway as we guarantee Europa League as a minimum
I can think of 2 teams that would rather be where we are . . . The 2 teams that came up with us. I'll take steady progress every day of the week.

2 massive fan bases back in the PL next season

I don’t think all 3 go back down. Someone is bound to drop out next season by law of averages, and I can’t see Leeds owners not spending and they are an attractive club.

Question will be better answered once the window shuts, but right now who is vulnerable for the drop?

Bournemouth? Will lose 3/5ths of their defence already. Maybe Semenyo and their manager

Palace - Can they keep Glasner, Eze, Guehi, Wharton and Mateta? How many go

Wolves - Cunha is off

Brentford - Mbeumo and Wissa potentially going

West Ham - Bit of a basket case and need to move out a lot and bring in a lot.

Can’t see 18th place finishing on a points total in the 20s next season. It will be tighter

Thoughts?

They’ll all have a shit ton more money to spend than any of the promoted sides…plus they all have 3+ years of prem experience…plus they’re not promoted clubs who are odds-on to be relegation favourites.

Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland all to be relegated.

You don’t think at least one will survive?

all three automatically start from a subservient position, and who knows what their recruitment will be like.

The prem clubs can always recruit for a position of strength, and generally have superior players bought than the promoted sides.

Unless any of them buy an entire new team - as we did when promoted - then none have enough quality to rely on half their championship team.
That kind of purchasing blows PSR out the water, say £200m+

Ipswich dropped 100m and they were struggling from the beginning, with only a couple of prem quality players, in all honesty.

Let's hear Gary Neville call this "scandalous" and demand someone resign immediately

Be interesting to see if there is any consistency shown by whoever is responsible for policing such things in the way of a hefty fine as was imposed on us. I won’t be losing my breath as I think we all know what will happen, & of course you’d expect sky’s no 1 pundit to be all over it

You just know that it's going to get spun in a way that paints Villa as doing this the "right way" by not claiming the ref/VAR was bent/biased but was too young and inexperienced and that the soshul meeja announcement was nice and polite.

All true as well I guess.

I watched the reply of the goal just now, and I don t think they can have too many complaints. Very marginal call, and I can see why this was given 'live' and why VAR could not overturn

Is Garry still. Alive?
