The Premier League 2024-25 Thread

The 5 and 6 year contracts are what they are giving to new signings in the main from what I’ve seen
Yep but if you came through their youth and were their player of the season last season you would expect to be treated with a bit more respect than they have shown.

Chelsea are basically saying we don’t think you are good enough for a long term contract so either take it and prove us wrong or fuck off.

When you put that alongside how they have treated Chalobah it doesn’t paint a pretty picture of how they treat their own…

I can see both points of view

Surely they will recall Santos and play him every game because he's already amazing for the prem?

- Bookies have Nuno as second fav to be sacked first this coming season.

- Almost every Youtube prediction channel (Yes, I know most of them know feck all about footy) and their comments section have us to be relegated.

We are fooked lads!

Most of that is just pundit's wishful thinking about Ipswich though.

442 magazine for instance has Leicester, Southampton and us to go down because they want Ipswich to survive

Leicester have at least one points deduction on the way and Southampton’s manager is out of his depth.

Ipswich have spent well and could survive in fairness but it won’t be at our expense. There are a good few teams that you could argue could fall apart this season and I honestly think we will end up somewhere in mid-table.

Chelsea have now apparently cut short Gallagher’s holiday and told him that he won’t be training with the first team…
This won’t help moral.

Late bids for Eze and Guehi will not help Palaces pre season. Toney scenario at Brentford is yet to play out. Everton are not clear of issues both on and off the pitch. Wolves and B’muff could go either way.

Not so sure about Ipswich's signings.

They have spent €72m so far. Hutchinson is a good player but they had him last year. Greaves? Good in the championship, but £18m seems steep. Liam Delap? Is he going to score a bucketful in the Premier League?

Muric?

Ben Johnson not bad on a free?

Feels like the bulk of the workload is on the players that got promoted twice and how good they are

Hutchinson did really well last year and looks able to take the step up. Greaves may be overpriced but he is really highly rated. Delap has improved each season. All of them have an element of risk but they are young and hungry. And you should never underestimate a team that has just won back to back promotions.

Of the three promoted sides I honestly think Ipswich are most likely to survive. And that’s before the $ky underdog promotion kicks in…

Fulham have to replace Palhinha, Brighton are in transition…

Lots of question marks about lots of teams.

It's akin to the Luton myth last season, and the sad truth is that people will invent a narrative regardless of how crap they actually do.

"Luton were so exciting to watch and gave it a good go". No they didnt, they were maybe good for about a handful of games in December and that's it.

I actually like Ipswich and do hope they stay up, just not at our expense.

imo Ipswich are better than luton- more grit similar unity. not sure it's enough to stay up tho. still depends on who and how many pts PSR dishes out.

Neto to Chelsea for €60m.

Takes their squad to 46 and net spend to €90m, overall spend to €190m
If there’s a way to assess their 3 year rolling until today, they must be 10’s of millions over the PSR threshold and selling Chalobah won’t make them comply
