A gentle reminer that all, repeat all, questionnaires of this kind are BS. If on the internet they are double BS and probably fishing for data too. If you avoid social media then it is irrational to give any credence to them. To suggest that they indicate any organised body of political thought is absurd. Fill them in and you will place a target on yourself for the receipt of all sorts of other nonsense. If you complete one "honestly" they have all the info required to tailor what crap you receive.
Sorry Jo, I think you've had a massive swing and a miss there.
This isn't a facebook quiz asking which Disney princess are you? It's a longstanding legitimate attempt to try and explain the political spectrum in two dimensions rather than one.
It's pretty well thought of, given it's been going so long, but obviously not infallible - a neutral option would certainly make a lot of sense. The topic as a whole is one I find interesting, and the wiki article is below - the website political compass even has it's own wiki article.

Where the political parties appear on the spectrum is obviously more subjective than your own personal score, but I think it's a very useful tool to see how your own personal views actually compare with the options available, because a LOT of people continue to vote against their own interests, and treat it as a case of voting for "their" party like it's "their" football team.
There are some articles up there about the elections in various years, and the one I find interesting is 2010, especially when compared to 2019.

Also very interesting to see where american politicans tend to stand.
