Vital Football Legend
The 2015/2016 season has barely closed its doors, but the transfer tickertape is spewing on at least a daily basis. Day after day, more and more players are added to the Guardiola wish list, with others seemingly destined for the exit chute.
After what can only be described as an understated campaign, sure the Blues need an element of reconstruction especially as key players appear to be almost terminally injured and could find their places at risk if they can`t find their fitness.
Kompany and Silva, the stalwarts of everything good about City since the money came look to be reaching either the twilight or night time of their careers. It also looks as though the entire defence is not only vulnerable on the field of play, but now off it too.
Even Joe Hart, one of the best goal tenders we have seen at the Club since the great days of Trautmann has been touted as on his way, so whoever Guardiola has in mind in that department has to be extraordinary. Neuer, for me won`t be the man. Often lauded as the best goalkeeper in the world, for me he has more shortcomings than Hart. At times it`s easy to guard the pipes behind a traditional Bayern back four, but he has looked in trouble on several occasions when I`ve watched him.
Only City could contemplate signing a goalie called "Geronimo". At times City`s penalty area looks like the Alamo and I suppose to that extent he has a name in context, but is he a replacement for Hart or a squad player?
Who else is seriously on the Pep List?
City`s "Team of the Week" could look something like this:
Rulli (Geronimo)
Sagna Laporte Stones Alves
Fernandinho Gundongan Kroos Sane
Aguero Aubameyang
The exit door looks open to: Yaya, Demichelis, Caballero, Zabaleta, Mangala
I wonder how that line-up would fare in the hurly-burly of the Barclays Premier League?
It will no doubt be interesting to see how what we have been reading comes to fruition over the close-season. City`s tendency has been to buy late, rather than ahead of the return to work in early July. The Euro 2016 Tournament causes problems this year as the Blues will be attracted to footballers who might get injured in the competition. With at least 2 of their targets allegedly already crocked, it wouldn`t be a good start, would it, if we signed more of them.
Maybe Pep will take a walk across the bridge and see what`s at his disposal there!
