Was it the correct decision to name the West Bridgford stand, The John Robertson Stand?

But I didn't agree with the PT stand either to be honest and probably agree with that one even less than the JR stand.

This is a club that needs to spend more time looking after, respecting and catering for it's younger fans and less time pandering to the nostalgia of just one generation.

As for Dyche, it felt like a third sacking of the season was unnecessary and the final points suggest it didn't make all that much difference. Maybe Dyche wouldn't have gotten some points that VP did, but maybe he would have done better. Maybe we go out of Europe earlier and do better run the league.

Who knows.

All that matters is we did survive and got at least to the semi final. The final outcome did work out with the decisions made

I understand your point on the JR stand debate, but I also see the other side so I genuinely don’t have a strong view.

With Dyche, it’s an utter facade that you can sit and pretend he was on for 42 points… just listen to the shite he’s been spewing since leaving. Surely you swallow your pride and admit he was crap and he had to go

I don't think he had to go.

You accused me of crystal balling it, but you are doing the same

On the general spread of results we would have likely made it, but we can't know. If the players had had enough of him then it might have down turned, but he might have gotten more out of Wood. Who knows.

But all we do know is that the decisions that were taken worked out ok, so in that sense it was the right decision because we can't be sure of the alternative
 
I've always said we shouldn't have sacked Dyche but the change in form we managed after VP came in wasn't even close to being on the horizon with Dyche here.
I'm also glad that we no longer appear to be simply a step on a manager's personal need to prove themselves to the media.

I wasn't expecting the points required to stay up to be so high and i'm 50/50 whether we would have achieved it under Dyche. We certainly wouldn't have had a relatively chilled out last week of the season.

Also notable is how MGW's goal scoring increased dramatically under VP.
 
The one thing I'd say about respecting Robbo and the Clough era is that there is video evidence. People too young to have been there can watch 'I believe in miracles', or look on the Forest site and on YouTube.

I'm sure I've found extended highlights, maybe even full match replay, of the 7-0 win over Chelsea in the Walker/Pearce/Nigel Clough/Crosby/Keane/Woan era, not a match I saw at the time. A reminder that even without Peter Taylor, Clough carried on creating brilliant sides.

Sadly, I don't think there are any videos of two games from the league winning season: 5-0 against West Ham in the League Cup, 4-0 against Ipswich with Peter Withe getting all four. You'll have to take my word for it - they were sensational performances.

It's absolutely nothing like being there though Pebble. Seeing it happen without knowing the result, and getting to celebrate the trophies with other Forest fans and with the team that won them.

If you think watching some old highlights is the comparable to being there, then why do people bother with season tickets when they can watch Match of the Day?

As I said in a previous post, it's absolutely not a lack of respect or appreciation. But there will always be a lack of connection in comparison to those that were there.
 
As our last major trophy was the League Cup in 1990, our chequered time in the early Premier League years, relegation, promotion, relegation again, 23 years out of the top flight, 3 years in League 1, apart from the 2022 Playoff win, what have we achieved?

Which players that the "younger generations" have seen play, should have a stand named after them? Any one for a statue? Which players? Managers?

It's about remembering the heroes that delivered our greatest footballing achievements. It's called history. Without that era what would we be?
I don't see young Forest fans moaning about The John Robertson Stand name. Only 1/2 on here.

Bolton and Preston NE, 2 clubs from yesteryear have the Nat Lofthouse and the Sir Tom Finney Stands respectively, named after their heroes from when they were great.

You have to remember history, it's right that clubs cherish and remember achievements. Our best ever player, directly responsible for 2 European Cup wins was the overwhelmingly correct decision to name a stand after him.

Then. Now. Forever.
It's about remembering our history and striving to build new greats.
Forest fans of all generations should embrace our past, reflect on the bad times and look forward to better times.
Posting on here about "listening to the younger generations" is drivel. The club does listen to its fans.
I bet not a single complaint or comment was made to the club about renaming the Bridgford End. Only on here. That speaks volumes.

And even then, false arguments about it always having been the Bridgford End, when in the 1970s at least it was Pavilion Road Terrace.

The club do listen to the younger generation, and to the support base as a whole, which is more than can be said than at some clubs

The rescinding of the intermediary level tickets aimed at Students was reversed after listening to supporters and the pricing of the EL tickets was adjusted when supporters started voting with their feet.

To say that the glory days do not resonate with the new breed of supporter or the ones unfortunate to have missed those days, is utter bollocks.

I am yet to meet one supporter in person who begrudges those days and does not speak with admiration and pride about those achievements - It is part of the clubs DNA and always will be.

To put those achievements into persepective; some of us had the misfortune to watch two of the most expensively assembled teams in the history of the game serve up a complete shit show on Saturday night.

Over 2bn worth of talent on the pitch and only one side attempted to win the game; it made for horrific viewing and is a very sad indictment on how far standards have dropped.

And now we have the great and the good elevating PSG into the "greatest of all time" grouping; yeah, well some of those teams won the trophy with flair and style.

And you are absolutely correct that all clubs commemorate their finest achievements - The Shankley Gates, The Paisley Statue and Dalgleish stand at Anfield - The Ferguson and Charlton Stands at Old Trafford and they even have a road named after Matt Busby, and that is replicated up and down the country at grounds

Those two stars are not only the greatest achievement the club won so far, they are the greatest we will ever win, and it would be churlish not to commemorate the two managers of that side and not the outstanding player.
