I'm a big fan of his anyway but imagine if he could put even half of his chances away...I'd imagine a finishing specialist is a fairly normal thing for strikers during pre season though?

It's not his finishing that's the problem. It's his first touch and the lack of intelligence in his running.

I am a little bit perplexed
I think the only mitigation he may have is the lack of creativity behind him. Yes he has missed what he should be scoring. But overall he hasn't had great service by a long way. This coming season with PC, the Norfolk Messi and a season older JJ ....with perhaps more to come there is no excuse.

It's an impressive scoring record considering we've produced fewer chances compared to other strikers on that list. He's not the most natural of finishers but I believe he'll improve with age - as will his hold up play.

I remember reading the same about Reo coker and Gabby at 25/26 their touch would improve with age. No, it doesn't, you've either got it or you haven't.
Otherwise, we'd all just keep practising until we could play for Villa, some things are a natural talent
