The Official Salford City Match Thread (Sponsored by 360 Degrees "for all your full circle needs")

I would delete "frustrating" & replace with lazy. Has zero pace or tricks to beat an opponent from out wide. Crosses invariably end up in the keeper's arms. Appears to have next to no appetite for the physical contest. Bit harsh I know but he also appears to be carrying a bit of timber. Not a fan. How he got so many goals for Accrington last season is a complete mystery unless they were from penalties & free kicks.
Look at the celebration of jaydens goal and watch Nolan 👀

Tell ya what we are a hard bunch to please Andrews is 23 has had some serious injury issues but I think he is an asset . I think every team especially in League 2 level need a big lad in the squad weather it’s to start or bring on more so with Hawkins out of contract in the summer and more than likely gone next month so Andrews be our only target man per se .

Could pace of others be the key?
We are creating next to nothing. That leaves fewer second chances a bit like Jayden scoring his offside goal Saturday.I would imagine that was the sort Nolan did well with last season. This year Jayden apart nobody is looking for that sort of chance. For me it is a collective attitude of the midfield.Without Little,McKenzie,Jayden and Gbode there is no hunger .That is then compounded by the lack of full backs making a impact in the final third .Hutton pushes up but has achieved very little in 12 months and could be one of the easiest to move on as his fitness has been good.
As I said before Hutton has by no means been the worst simply he might have a desire to move again if he feels it simply isn't working for him. Getting in a couple of very quick attacking full backs might be a better alternative to Webster and Max Clark. It might be a cost effective way of changing the dynamics of the team and the midfield.

As circumstances occurred the crawl was cut short after five pubs due to my father who was in attendance suffering difficulties with his knee and the walking around being too painful for him.

The ones I was able to take in were:

1. The Marquess of Anglesey (Youngs Pub), Covent Garden. Wasn't originally meant to go in there but the Harp on Chandos Place was unexpectedly closed. One of the members of the group works for Youngs and gets a 20% discount hence the diversion into this pub.
2. The Ship Tavern, Holborn. Very good pub, would recommend.
3. The Seven Stars, Next to the Royal Courts of Justice. Very much reminiscent of a stereotypical back street boozer.
4. Old Bank of England (McMullen's Pub), Fleet Street. One I've been to before and whilst it is quite a grand building, its very much set up to be more of a restaurant than a pub these days.
5. The Cockpit, Blackfriars. Taking a time machine back to the 70s with this pub with lots of Courage regalia everywhere. You have to walk down stairs into the pub before walking back up some steps to get into the bar as the "pit" was formerly used for actual cock fighting back in the day, hence the name.

Thanks for sharing.

Old bank of england i recognise. Great building.

We are not referring to the header at 8:30 in this video, are we?:

He is on the wrong side of the penalty spot in the middle, and tries to redirect it to the other side of the goal but a keeper would be very disappointed not to save a header from a fairly light cross that was on its way down, and from that distance.

Compare that to Stockton who was running though on goal in acres of space and only had to lift the ball over Morris and you could hardly regard it as a sitter by comparison.

Andrews chance shown at 8:34 in German Gills’ video above.
I’d have expected him to hit the target from there, not necessarily score, but if the keeper pushed it back out it could have been a tap in for someone.

Also agree with German Gills’ assessment that he could have taken it down on his chest and then got a shot off as he was not closely marked .

Just before this he shows the Jayden Clarke penalty appeal incident, I think the defender clips Clarke’s heels before he falls down if you watch their feet.

Yes, at our level a big, strong, athletic front man is usually a key asset. Andrews has potential in that regard but there has been reason to question his fitness to play 90 mins. Hopefully you'll be able to bring in a similar (high calibre) player on loan should there be any lingering concern over Josh.

I can't stand Nolan. The most unlikeable player for a long time. Lazy, overweight, clearly doesn't give a fuck and is emblematic of the wage thiefs that the club has unfortunately been signing for too long.

I remember at the beginning of the season when the boys were doing the kit photoshoots and one of them said 'kiss the badge/Gills til I die' or something like that to Nolan as a bit of a banter and he just scoffed and rolled his eyes. Obviously I don't expect him to be in love with our club but I found that pretty disrespectful and nothing he's done on the pitch has won me over since.

Apart from that he's alright.

Nolan did have the shot on Saturday from which Clarke 'scored' the offside goal from the save but agree the most frustrating player after a promising start against Carlisle

We pay him to play football not play pretend fake kissing of the badge. Many fans and players see it as a gimmick but like it if genuine.

What's Sky Sports got to do with it? They don't provide the feed the EFL do. Games that are broadcast on SS+ aren't produced by Sky either, it's just a place to show the feed.
It's sky sports that take my money so it's there job to ensure that they supply the
product, tossers.
