The Official Salford City Match Thread (Sponsored by 360 Degrees "for all your full circle needs")

Nolan headed the ball twice (two times) his first aerial action in a Gills shirt. Andrews played a little over 64 minutes, new territoty for him in a gills shirt.
That headed chance for Andrews though…completely mis-timed it. Unchallenged as well.

This is worthy of its own thread.

Which ones? I do like a london pub crawl
As circumstances occurred the crawl was cut short after five pubs due to my father who was in attendance suffering difficulties with his knee and the walking around being too painful for him.

The ones I was able to take in were:

1. The Marquess of Anglesey (Youngs Pub), Covent Garden. Wasn't originally meant to go in there but the Harp on Chandos Place was unexpectedly closed. One of the members of the group works for Youngs and gets a 20% discount hence the diversion into this pub.
2. The Ship Tavern, Holborn. Very good pub, would recommend.
3. The Seven Stars, Next to the Royal Courts of Justice. Very much reminiscent of a stereotypical back street boozer.
4. Old Bank of England (McMullen's Pub), Fleet Street. One I've been to before and whilst it is quite a grand building, its very much set up to be more of a restaurant than a pub these days.
5. The Cockpit, Blackfriars. Taking a time machine back to the 70s with this pub with lots of Courage regalia everywhere. You have to walk down stairs into the pub before walking back up some steps to get into the bar as the "pit" was formerly used for actual cock fighting back in the day, hence the name.

Did anybody else see the ref show a yellow card to one of our players as they left the field at half time? I thought it was to Jayden Clarke (Bradley Dack was certainly pulling him away from the ref and down the tunnel). I thought he was in big trouble after the pushing and shoving wit their number 16 in the second half, and it looks like he was booked at that point according to the beeb stats, so clearly he wasn't booked at half time (or maybe the ref made yet another mistake)

Both Clarke and their 16 (Tilt) were booked after their coming together before half time

My take on this incidend was that there was an altercation between Tilt and Jaydn in the 73rd minute resulting in a booking for both of them. Jaydn was clearly upset and the Salford little black left winger put his arm around him for a while to try to calm him down. He was pulled in the 77th minute as he was still upset.
I wonder if something of a racial nature was said to him by Tilt.

I thought the ref showed a yellow to somebody for having a moan as they walked off at half time and it looked to me that it was to Jayden, but presumably it was to one of the coaches if he did as none of the players are showing with a yellow in first half

I don't know why I said half time, I meant before Jayden was taken off

Don't think so. Jayden was on media duties after the game and was asked about this - seemed wryly amused and relaxed about it, nothing to indicate anything serious.

The "experiment" with buying Andrews is a failure.

A lot of wasted money there in both a fee and wages.

How can it be a “failure” after just 9 months, mainly injured? Granted it’s not been a good start, but if he gets his fitness right, some luck with injuries and has a decent run he might just turn into a very valuable L2 striker. Still only 23 and a big unit.

Was a card to someone on our bench, delivered from a cowardly distance.

Nolan is one hell if a frustrating player. He has bundles of ability but it’s just not clicking at all . He’ll always either try to beat a player or cross both great things if they work but that along with a lack of tracking back you just went to throttle him ! He has shown in patches what he can do , let’s hope MB and co can unlock his potential .

Anthony Hayes is a bit more animated in the dug out these days , Peter Gill who is well thought of sits in the box relaying messages to DI so I can only imagine how frustrating he must be watching Nolan from up there !!!
I would delete "frustrating" & replace with lazy. Has zero pace or tricks to beat an opponent from out wide. Crosses invariably end up in the keeper's arms. Appears to have next to no appetite for the physical contest. Bit harsh I know but he also appears to be carrying a bit of timber. Not a fan. How he got so many goals for Accrington last season is a complete mystery unless they were from penalties & free kicks.

But... But... He missed a header. Burn him!
We are not referring to the header at 8:30 in this video, are we?:

He is on the wrong side of the penalty spot in the middle, and tries to redirect it to the other side of the goal but a keeper would be very disappointed not to save a header from a fairly light cross that was on its way down, and from that distance.

Compare that to Stockton who was running though on goal in acres of space and only had to lift the ball over Morris and you could hardly regard it as a sitter by comparison.

Spoke to Jayden after the game. Tilt had been refusing to acknowledge the genocide in Gaza all game and (having lost his cool after going a goal down) ended up accusing Jayden of being pro-Hamas, which didn’t go down well.

Thanks for the explanation and it is clear that I was wrong. It's not Jaydn it is Jayden

Agreed he has ability, which he has not shown consistently. I do find his aversion to heading comical but it's not so important in his position
