Sad to hear the news ex-boxer Alan Minter has passed away aged 69.

He was crowned middleweight champion of the world when he outpointed Vito Antuofermo in Las Vegas in March 1980.

Very sad, Vito Antuofermo was a very tough customer and he beat him twice to become particularly speaking the undisputed middleweight champ (not sure if the IBF was around then or considered important). Lost to Hagler who was a bridge too far. Also has a win against Emile Griffith. Griffith was pretty ancient at that stage of his career but is one of the all time greats in and around those weights.

I grew up in Aston with my black mates going to blues parties in houses around Aston/Handsworth etc, listening to Toots & The Maytals and others so it is sad to hear of "Toots" Hibbert's passing.
