The Official John Terry Thread

I would welcome him to VP. He is a leader. He may be 36, but he could easily handle the Championship. Would he be able to handle a season at Bournemouth and the vigours of the Premiership at his age?, I don't think so.

Doubt if he'd come, but if he did....great!

Odds have shortened again this morning so this starting to look more and more likely now -

Villa - 1/4
Birmingham - 10/1
Any Portuguese Club - 14/1
Swansea - 16/1
West Brom - 16/1
Bournemouth - 17/1
Any Chinese Club - 25/1
Any MLS Club - 25/1

He may be 36, but he could easily handle the Championship.

That's true, and I doubt he would play all 46 games. Also, he barely played last season so should have plenty of gas left in the tank for a season or so.

The deal breaker, though, might be which, if any, of the Villa players' wives he likes the look of :3:

Ha. I was just going to post something similar to JPA. If nothing else it will stop some of the players going out drinking as they won't want to leave their wives alone at home with Terry about.

Xia has announced that John Terry has signed for Aston Villa.

Personally, I can't see past that it was just Terry in a picture with Bruce at a golfing event.

After living in Bournemouth for 34 years, I would say AFC Bournemouth and the area would be ideal for him!?

John Terry is too good for us to be honest we are currently a mid table championship side. My only question mark over this is can he stay fit for a long season in the championship? If he can then he will be a massive influence at the club. I honestly couldn't care less what he's like as a person I'm not having him round for sunday dinner.

If 'Arry has come in for him we're knackered. How can we possibly compete with the sleeping giants of Small Heath?

Great signing - more for his attitude than anything else.

With some clubs, it's a signing like this where people say "how did they manage to get him?!" that kick-starts the club onto another level. Signings like Gullit and Vialli at Chelsea and even Dugarry down at the sty.

Fair play to the behind the scenes team who made this possible and sold the Villa dream to JT

The idea that Terry isn't interested in money and will be looking forward to the challenge of winning the Championship is hilarious.

I really hope he goes to China.

I see dodgy Arry wants to sign him.

Thats the scum bankrupt then.

Maybe he wants a crack at Harry's daughter in law....

Good point Silhill and it shows a benefit of having Bruce as manager,

He seems to have massive respect within the game.

You do realise that it is not the done thing to have a dinosaur manager. Young and hungry and if possible foreign with new ideas, is the way forward.

May I point out some of the advantages of having a dinosaur manager, depending on who it is of course.
Taking our present manager as an example, he has been a top player and so will be respected by fellow professionals, this will in many cases make signing players easier, he has the experience of knowing that different players need managing in different ways to get the best out of them, he will also be experienced enough to know that the way the team plays is down to the ability of the individuals in the squad and that sometimes a set of players just don't gel as a team. He has the experience of knowing how to put teams that can gain promotion together, having done it four times.
Young hungry managers we have had in Lambert, Garde and Sherwood without having any success.

Spot on Bikini, our coaches couldnt get the best out of our midfield and defence last season, but im willing to bet that Terry, if it comes off will improve some fairly average players and give the whole squad a tougher more professional attitude. Bring it on.

Welcome to Villa Park JT.

Think this is a huge signing. Shows we can still mix it with the big boys. His experience, desire, fighting spirit and talent will be massive for us.
