Good luck arguing that there is a better player in the championship than Terry.
Outside of football he's probably a dick but he's considered a legend by so many that Grealish, McCormack, Gabby, Bacuna and so on can't continue to act like children.
We have who is considered one of the best ever premier league centre backs in our squad.
Considering it's normally the other way around, we sell a player and they win the prem it's nice to see the tide is turning.
This next reference will go over many of y'all's heads but hopefully you see where I'm coming from.
In the NFL last year, the Atlanta falcons had the sack (take the qb down) leader in Vic Beasley. The year prior he had been a total bust, talent but no mental capacity to know when to use it. Last season they brought in Dwight Freeny a hall of fame player when done. He was on a decent contract and his impact was somewhere in the middle of the squad.
However, he gets all credit for Beasley turning into the lead sacker in the NFL. Beasley is the first to say he taught him so much and mentored him.
That's what we have to hope so. The players around him need to step up. Baker, Richards, Bree, Taylor, Chester and whoever is in goal needs to listen to everything he has to say about defending. No one on our squad can dare to say their opinion is more correct than his about football.
If he turns the ones on the fence into players, inspires Hogan, Green and Grealish to blossom. He is worth every penny.
Also a huge point to show Terry deserves credit. He could of taken a big money marketing deal in either USA or China but he's picked the longest and hardest league he could. He's made a footballing choice.
If he's to become a manager after this it's a very smart move too. He's been managed by some of the worlds best and know their style. But not someone from his own country who played like he did. Bruce will teach him a ton on how to run a club.
For whoever else we sign, no one will have a mental impact anywhere near Terry.
