The Official Birkir Bjarnason thread

I'd imagine he'll be set for a return to Iceland or Sweden divisions, so removing a transfer fee (even nominal) makes far more wriggle room in his wage.

Just a mini attempt to take care of him a little I guess.
The club have got these decisions right, big time. Paying off these players with millions really are big but correct decisions

Maybe I'm doing McCormack a disservice, but I imagine his settlement was weighted in his favour. With Bjarney, I'd be inclined to think both sides won out of respect. Just hits me as that kind of that guy.

Think Barney is one who might have stayed. Only thing is DS wants ball-players right throughout the team, and Barney is really a more direct sort of player. He'll do OK.

A huge thing the club has done is got rid of the wasters. After Gabby, now McCormack and Richards. We won't see the effect directly on the pitch, but in terms of team ethic and spirit that's masssive.

I’d agree. I would also imagine a fair few other players have taken advantage of the clubs new world working practices, obviously with the money back up. Players that are shyte or will never have settled need

I have nothing but respect for Birkir Bjarnason - look he has played 77 times for Iceland who were ranked as high as 18'th by Fifa recently [currently 36'th], he has played CL football for Basel. Also, in case any has forgotten, he was a major player in the Iceland team of 2016 who accounted for so many [could easily elaborate here but ask Woy for example]. This guy in the right team is a star. Good luck to him I say.

Classy way to deal with this by Birkir and by our club. Nice to see the club not holding on for a fee that really, with their wealth, would be irrelevant, and to see Birkir wanting to play football, not hand around to see out his deal.

I wish him nothing but luck

This cuts to the chase. He wants to play football and the club have said we won't stand in your way. Classy on both sides. Remember Dean's statement about Mitch Clark - his development would have been stiffled here, hence he was allowed to go.

I'm sure he will have plenty of good clubs after him. He looked really good in some games, but anonymous in others.
