The mystery of Nkoudou...

I'd mentioned here before just how well he's been training and how much he's been impressing a few, which is why I simply cannot understand why we haven't seen more of him - it seems my prediction when we bought him that we wouldn't see much of him until next season looks like it is the case..

But it's a bit of mystery to me, why he hasn't had more minutes when at times the one thing we desperately lack is killer pass and the ability to push defenders onto their heels..

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou has struggled for minutes on the pitch this season

Georges-Kevin Nkoudou hasn't exactly had much game time for Tottenham Hotspur this season but one young player who has seen plenty of him behind the scenes believes there's plenty for the fans to get excited about, including a skill the supporters are yet to witness.

The 22-year-old French winger has played just 36 minutes of Premier League football since arriving for £11m from Marseille in the summer. He's become a cult figure among the supporters, mostly due to his social media activity, but has not been able to deliver on the pitch yet with just a single assist to his name, against Aston Villa.

His only start brought his most disappointing performance, in the 2-1 defeat at Liverpool in the EFL Cup.

However, Anthony Georgiou, a 20-year-old winger who was involved with first team training earlier this season, got to see plenty of Nkoudou at Hotspur Way and revealed that it's not just his speed that stands out in the sessions, but something else that the fans are yet to see - his strength.

"I've been impressed with him after getting some time training with him. He's not an easy player to defend against as he's very explosive off the mark and combines flair with his skills so he's very unpredictable when he's playing," said Georgiou in Spurs' match day programme.

"I also think he's very strong physically on the pitch for someone who is still so young. Everyone can see how quick he is, but he's also very strong on the ball too. Having that physical power is a massive help in being able to do the hard work off the ball and work for the team."

The young winger believes his team-mate will only get better and will soon get more of a chance to impress in front of the fans.

"As time goes on I think he'll keep improving and show more and more of what he can do at the club. He definitely has the ability and talent to be a very good player for Tottenham and he often has a positive impact on the games that he plays, using his pace and skills to create chances," he said.

"The fact that he's played quite a few games already at the top level in France can help as well. He already knows what it's like to be in a top first team and play in a very good league and perform.

"He's also a very good guy around the training ground, he's always very happy and bubbly and is friendly with everyone, which is great to see."

Georgiou is also expecting to take plenty from his team-mate as he goes forward.

"I like how he's always looking for goals and assists. He's a couple of years older than me, so he's someone who i can learn from too and it's good to see where he's at during this stage of his career," he admitted.

"I like to use my speed to beat people so hopefully I can incorporate some of the things that he does into my skill set."

We could see his strength when he played. He physically held players off the ball on several occasions. There was a lot on show in that half game and my only thought is that he is being held back so we don't end up with another Jansen.

I think what threw everyone was what MP said after that game about people not being able to deliver when playing a team at that level.

Buddy him up with Dembele... teach him how to use that strength to glide past defenders as if he were swatting away flies.

So if he is fast, strong and has all this ability to score and create, why have we not seen more of him?

There is being cautious and then there is taking the piss.

beats me, other than Poch and the coaches must think he's still not ready, all I can is repeat what I said awhile back, that he's impressing a good few on the training ground...

Good. He is a positive player with pace. Which is what we need. I still think we should have used him far more than we have.
