So, someone posted on Twitter that The Last Waltz should be played just before the teams comes out at Priestfield. Many other clubs from Brentford to Everton have a rousing song to get the fans fired up and the Chelsea one we tried was a bit of a lame copy
Well Brad saw the tweet so tomorrow night #operationlastwalz happens! Flags, scarves all encouraged via the club shop and Twitter etc are encouraging full and noisy participation. I've dug out my vintage woolly scarf for the occasion.
Another cracking crowd pleaser from the Galinsons.
 
We need "Ready to Go" by Republica.

Really gets the blood up and should rev up the players so they do not start with such a slow tempo.

I remember it used to be played regularly at the Ice Bowl during Medway Bears or Invicta Dynamos Ice Hockey games.

That is played regularly already, great song.
 
For it to be effective please only play a bit of it. Forget the slow intro & 1st verse, only play “I’ll have the last waltz with you, two lonely people together”. The fans will join in and naturally speed it up. Otherwise people will sing at two different tempos. Or three if you include those in Block 7 who sing everything in a slow Alabama drawl!

Agree with pump-up songs. The DJ actually does a really good job with this, I’m just never in the ground until kick off! Looking at his Twitter account he used to publish some of the playlists:

Note on that playlist it says about “goal music”. Really wish they’d scrap it, it’s the one time in the game you can guarantee the atmospheres great in the stadium and I really don’t think it’s needed. The sound of the crowd without it is far better than us all being prompted to “sing / der der der” along to that shit every time.
 
I still think anything starting "I wondered should I go or should I stay", while possibly apt, does not draw forth the beach-hitting, hill dying, here we go passion the club is looking for.
 
I reckon it’s a great idea.

Over here in the AFL, Port Adelaide fans do it with their club song “Never tear us apart”. Now, they aren’t my team, don’t like them, but just before the “ball up” 50k fans belting it out in unison is spine tingling.

Ports version is not exactly an upbeat tempo song either. So, if done right, with our fans version played to start it off, then the fans - ALL SIDES - take it from there. I really hope it works and the fans join in.

Play anything from the metal genre, that’s should get us pumping! Maybe a band from Kent. Oli Sykes was born in Ashford, so maybe a Bring Me The Horizon track? Or one of Herr’s former bands?
