The January Transfer Thread 2022

The reality is that January is a hard time to buy so you have to take what you can get.

not so sure tbh - you'll have some that clubs don't want to release for sure but then you've got those that need to shift high wages off the books or those last chances to get a fee before they walk for free etc.
They don't bother with 'cup-tied' players for champs league anymore which used to complicate things

I wonder what West Ham fans were saying last January when they signed Lingard.

Probably something like....
He is really ambitious and doesn't want to sit on the Manure bench picking up fat wages. And he will definitely sign when he scores loads of goals for us and is our player of the second half of the season.

I want the entire board gone if we don't sign Haaland this window tbh.

Nah, not good enough, would only come to us as we're a stepping stone and we can't afford his wages.

Better off signing Danny Wellbeck and hope our U16 prospects can get us into those Champions League spots.

We were all moaning about not being able to break Brentford down 3 days ago and now people are turning their noses up at signing Coutinho.
To be honest I was more concerned by how easily they a very poor side scored two easy and soft goals against us . Coutinio isn't improving that area.

It's no risk if its a loan anyway.
He may well help attract other players to the cause, it increase the profile of the club.
I actually can't believe it got this far at 29 he'd be our oldest player except for Ash, that can't be bad .
He's a 1 in 4 striker throughout his career he's not going to be banging in 20 a season he's a replacement for JG

Nope. We have already replaced Jack

I’ll go back through the thread to get the general consensus but my contradicting thoughts on Coutinho are where do you fit him in, given we have a couple of players who play directly in or advance into the space he plays in, notably Buendia.

I’d like a different type of midfielder first and foremost, however he is only 29 and he is a wow factor, a big name which shows intent and it’s sometimes a catalyst you need in January which are rare.

One thing I am slightly sceptical about is I’ve read Liverpool are interested, so if they can offer him even half the game time we could, I think we’d face a big challenge to get him, but what do I know, nothing is impossible.

To be honest JG would still be here if we were in for players like Coutinho in the summer and not the championship finest

I think Jack’s head was turned regardless of what we offered and who we signed . His new England mates and Mr Boring Southgate saw to that .

I imagine it would be him and Buendia either side of Ollie.

Bissouma from Brighton would be the player I would waste money on. Never mind the glamour. What will millions spent on Coutinho for 4 months do for us long term?
