The Frederic Guilbert Thread

I think Guilbert and Jota is the combination at home on most occasions. Jota obviously holds the ball up and can turn inside which allows Guilbert to travel forward. I think El Ghazi or Trez might not allow Guilbert to get around them that much.

His speed looks incredible, has to be one of the fastest players out there?

Right hand combination of Jota and Guilbert works so well and with Elmo on the bench as cover for both neither needs to hold back. The thing that's great is the management that found them both for less than £10 m the pair.

He is certainly very fast and that tackle towards the end was brilliant. All in all, it was a good night for him although early on Everton were making a lot of inroads down that wing and it might have proved costly. 7 out of 10 from me.

Sometimes you just have to say the opposition played well. Guilbert came back once he and Jota worked it out. Have to give them credit for that.

I think he's been excellent so far. Especially as we got him for about 4m I think. Like most modern full backs he needs to work on the defensive side of his game a bit but he's been fast enough to recover mostly.

You could see the difference in quality when Elmo came on Saturday. Hopefully Freddy will be back for wolves.

Terrific signing. I though Saturday was his best game for us.
Very good going forward from day one , but Saturday I was so impressed with his defensive work.

Yes, he did well as did ElGahzi who spent much of the game covering him which is understandable given the quality of the opposition. I just long for the day when we don't have to double up and can defend from the front.

Best not get me started on that one, Freddie is indeed a decent fullback

What I love about him most isn’t his speed nor his quality going forward (although I do indeed love that about him), it’s how he comes across as excited as a schoolboy about signing for the Villa. I remember his posts on social media from wemberlee he was like a kid waiting for Christmas. You would’ve thought he was a long suffering like us mugs

Another great signing. The quality of the signings in the close season is a testament to the amount of work put in by the scouting team before hand. Even if some have reservations about one or two most have been very good.
