Half marathon done as part of our running challenge in tribute to our late cricket club president. A few of us have run between us in the last week nearly 1000 miles which has enabled us to visit all the test match grounds in the UK and by the day of his funeral on Tuesday we will have done enough to visit some of the local cricket grounds in our league. So today I ran from Villa Park to Walsall C.C's ground and back which was 13.1 miles.

How are the knees doing with the running these days? Do you think you are done with full marathons now? I would guess half marathons are far more fun really, not that I'd know as obviously I only do full ones...! Ok, ok, full ONE (and it was no fun at all!)

And how is the finest ground in world football looking today?.

Not too bad actually . Done 44 miles since last saturday but will ease back now the challenge is nearly done
No to a full marathon I wouldn't want to do 4-5 weeks of that mileage nowadays. Long term I think it would do some damage so I am quite happy doing half marathons.

About 9 mins in. A variation of the face pull. Ouch. Very good. Never seen this one before.

Ive halved my usual weight to get form right

I am having a stunning time at the moment, sad maybe, but makes me so happy my gym. Hope the brain aches stay away and I get a good run at this. I can never tell, sometimes a few years, sometimes a few weeks or months.

Treated myself to a few bits and bobs. Could not resist these beauties.

And gone a bit bling for my new training gloves, the wrist supports are crucial for me

Them gloves look good. Endorsed by the man Tony Ferguson I see. Good choice there then.
I do tend to go with Twins for my gear. That is my go to brand. The gloves are just immense. Never had RDX but those gloves look great.

Twins, will look those up.

Yes, had a fair bit from RDX, their sizing can be a bit off, but once you get the right fit, it is good clobber.

Looking forward to trying those gloves, bit impulsive as the ones I have are ok to be honest, but got to have a treat every now and then haven't you!? Was tempted with the white but think they'll mark up too easily.

Shattered now.

5x100m sprints

All in one day?

Not at all keen on that Manny ab routine, so jerky, the form is abysmal. I'd seek out something a bit smoother than that personally. Each to their own though dude.

Hope you factor in a rest day or two Col!!!

Weigh in today. Now 8% visceral fat down from 13%

2 stone off. Impressed with that.

And about 14% body fat. Work to be done. Want to be 10% or under. No rush, I'll get there.

I thought this was good from David Haye on nutrition:

How much of that good shape is down to good diet, too?

“A whole lot, but it’s simple. It’s stuff I’ve always known, like if you’re eating 5,000 calories a day and you’re only burning 2,000, you’re going to get fat. It’s not rocket science. The key for me has been looking at food and asking, ‘Where has this come from? What will it do to me?’ Does it grow from the ground, or on a tree, or does it run around a field? If it doesn’t do any of those, should you really be eating it?

“In short, try not to eat processed food. Investigate the provenance of what you’re eating. Is that beef pumped full of steroids and growth hormones, or is that chicken battery farmed? Always look at what you’re consuming and ask, ‘Is this the best I can have?’

“The fact that people aren’t eating in restaurants at the moment and are being forced to cook from scratch is a good thing. In my life, whenever I’ve looked at my worst it’s been down to my diet – and whenever I’ve looked at my leanest and my healthiest, it’s been when I’ve been super tight with my nutrition.”

Wise words from Mr Haye. I personally cant stand him as a person but he is right here.
It does take alot of will power to eat clean all day every day.
I couldn't do what athlenex does. He has one portion of carrot cake a year. The rest of the time its 100% clean. Got to admire him really.

Been really enjoying the athleanx youtubes, some great points made by him.

Think there is a middle ground diet wise for sure, but each to their own obviously, if he doesn't feel he's missing out, great.
