The Exercise & Cardio Thread.

Wowzer, you ran it twice? :1:

I've entered the Brum marathon for next October. Mad :3:

I did 32 miles in 45 mins yesterday , would have been quicker but the M6 had 50mph variable speed limit on it .

Last time i ran was May last year i think.
I knew i had to have a lump removed from a very awkward and uncomfortable part of the body and the whole episode was a bit of a shambles.Anyway I eventually had the op and genuinely spent the following few weeks unable to run. After that I think I allowed myself to slip into a feel sorry for myself mode.I eventually decided to go for a run over Christmas but never did because i had a cough/cold for about 3 weeks.
Yesterday I actually felt okay and nervously set off for a run.
I only did 5 km in Sutton Park, but it felt great at the end.
My time was terrible compared to last year but that was to be expected.
My intention is to do a few more runs over the next month, then hopefully build my speed up a bit and then go for a Park Run with sirdennis (and beat him......obviously )

Thanks Kefkat.
:35:

Don't be a stranger! Your wit has been missed around here; well by me anyway. I always had a good chuckle at your less serious posts, which was most of them. I hope the hospital didn't remove your humour Club :14:

Blimey, this has disappeared for a bit.
Well i haven`t done a fat lot recently, then i got roped into the Sutton Park Prostate Charity run 2 weeks ago.A 10 km run.
It was bloody hard after not doing anything for so long,so last saturday i did the Perry Hall Park run on my own to try to get some fitness back and to try to get into it again.
My time was pretty crap but i felt a sense of achievement doing it.
I`m doing this week`s run again and I`m determined to get up to a level whereby Sirdennis will be prepared to run at half pace with me for a 5 km in the not too distant future :7:

Nicely bumped up club. Good to hear you are back on the exercise wagon.

Did I mention my marathon? :59:

Still can't believe I did it. Still chuffed. Feet still buggered lol :70:

I did the 10km 2 weeks ago sirdennis, then last week i did Perry Hall Park run.I`m a lot slower than i was,but i`ll try to get a bit faster over the next few weeks.

And yes J F, funnily enough I did hear about your marathon......fantastic achievement if i may say so.

Ah right i see. Well done anyway just give me the nod when you want me to pace you for a 24 minute park run. :17:

I did the park run this morning. The last 2 were cancelled due to ice on the path.
I don`t know my time yet because I never took my watch and they haven`t text me yet.
I`m not too concerned about the time,I`m just trying to do it as often as I can and reach the 50 runs mark.
Far too many beers and a curry last night will no doubt have an affect on my ridiculously slow time, but hey ho, at least I got out and did it.There were times when I wondered why I was putting myself through it...........the run not the beer and curry :17: but the feeling of satisfaction at the end makes it all worthwhile.

Well done Clubpaver. I too had a curry last night (no beer though) and can confirm that it's not ideal running with that sloshing around in your belly.

Doing an intense one on one black belt training course. British Free Fighting. Just loving it. Body as usual is throwing up it's challenges, but hopefully I can keep going. 4th session last Friday and things were really clicking. Seems I have a bit of aptitude for it, the one movement he showed me I picked up quickly, my instructor told me a fair few people trip up trying to start.

A lot of it ties in nicely with the years of weight training and also the boxing. Really quite excited by this new obsession, shaking my training up brilliantly. Back in the gym last week as well but just two proper sessions, then a 3 hour session showing my nephew tips and what not. Got to be careful not to over do it and get DOMS as that then would fuck up the martial arts sessions!

Blimey that was a tough martial arts session. Was not good all weekend, but didn't want to miss this. Went well considering. It's about getting the co-ordination going. Feet, legs, hands, etc all in a single flowing motion. Interesting with my brain ache damage but also will do that a world of good as it pushes new pathways - much like the walking, mountain climbing etc did.

I'm sure Deano remembers our epic walk in the Malverns. It was the furthest I'd walked since the brain chop and at the end the medical guy we were talking to said well done, good time and all that and we got into a chat about my situation.

It was the first time I'd heard anything on the newer thinking (before, brain damage was brain damage and that was it) that the old pathways are permanently broken BUT the brain finds a way to make new pathways.

In conclusion, Get up. Get out. Live!
