The Exercise & Cardio Thread.

I would love to do a triathlon , but would need a lot of work on the swimming.

Club , you could do a marathon with the right training plan ,it's a big challenge no doubt about it and requires a lot of commitment , but the satisfaction you get from doing one makes it all worthwhile.

Magic.
See you on saturday then

Just done my 4th for the week.

Bodybutter thinks 5km is a fun run ? He should see me when I`ve finished .....that`d change his mind :17:

I'm not pulling your pud, mate. Don't the kids and charity fellas in silly costumes do 5km?

BB, I`m 49 and have been smoking for 35 years.Roughly a quarter of a million fags later.....no wonder my lungs don`t like me anymore.Running 5 km for me is an achievement.Running it every day is fuckin amazing, considering the abuse I`ve given my body.
I am still amazed that I am physically able to do it.I doubt I`ll ever be able to run a marathon, but I`ll keep going and do as much as I can and as fast as I can.
You can safely say that I`ve learnt my lesson.
35 years too late,but I`ve learnt it :17:

Well done, mate. It's great that you are doing it. The only thing is, if you can run 5km, you can run 6km. Know what I mean?

I am shit at swimming which never makes sense. I look like I'd steam through water.
I do love a dip though or a bounce on something inflatable.

You'll probably find 5k becoming easier in a while and then push yourself to longer distances. Just work at a pace you're comfortable with. I've been going to the gym for 2 months or so, started leg pressing at 130lbs and now at 290. Your body will tell you when you can up it a notch.

I think you`re right upthevilla.I started running a couple of months ago but then damaged my knee, then a few other little medical problems etc,so it`s been a bit stop/start.Like you say, when I`m ready for a longer distance ,I`ll know.

sirdennis....work have given me a monstrosity of a phone .It`s about the size of a surf board,so i don`t really want to carry it tomorrow, until i get one of those arm things,so if you`re still okay for tomorrow,I`ll see you by the bandstand.

BB ,i know what you mean, but let me walk before i start running..........well,sort of :17:

We plan to do the one in Sutton park. They have various events including an Olympic one which is a 3km swim, 100km cycle finished off with a half marathon. Ultimately it would be great to attempt that level but as it's my first I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, pluss this is something to share with my boys and they will be old enough for the sprint event but not the Olympic.

That sounds like the one i watched a few weeks ago.
If you do get a place in it,make sure you let us know.I`ll definitely come to watch, unless i enter it myself !!

Absolutely, the more the merrier. I've already roped my sister's step-son in - not that he needs to train for it, he's a fit as a butcher's dog. First time we are not planning on pushing too hard, it's more of an achievement for me and my boys to complete together, so if you do join in I expect you'll thrash us quite soundly. lol

Did the park run with Club this morning , I could hardly keep up with him and he smashed his PB.

Juan , he said a marathon is a great idea , so keep on at him.

:17:

"hardly keep up with me"
They won`t believe that one sirdennis !
My official time was 28m 8s.
That`s 1m 23s faster than my best.

Thanks for keeping me going sirden.

Juan, ignore sirdennis. He`s been having problems with his hearing. :21:

Club, you knew it was coming, I'm worse than a dog with a bone, there is no sitting back and resting on your laurels, to improve we need a challenge, when we meet that challenge we then need to move the goalposts.

So my friend, I see no reason why you can't commit yourself to AT LEAST a half marathon within the next months, that is easily achievable for you, all of the info you need is available and you even have a very experienced runner to give you pointers, an enviable position, so make use of it.

What say you?

started going to the gym before work now... obviously im restricted with time as I have to start at 9... But at the moment I do half an hour on the bike (up hill) and then 10 minutes rowing. Might not sound a great deal but its something... by the time ive don't that and had a shower its time to start work.

I bet that`s a bit of a rush Barney.I know the feeling.I have to fit my run in during the week and it`s a bit tight. If i ran any further i`d be late going in to work.

Just done a 27m 43 s in Sutton Park.
My best is 27m 41 s........gutted i just missed it.I ran like a bat out of hell for the last 2 minutes to try to beat it aswell.
Ok ,not quite like a bat out of hell, but very fast for me :17:

Great stuff Club.

I am running home from work tonight the shortest way possible , which is about 7.5 miles.

Usually play football twice a week, go gym and like to do a couple of jogs during the week.

However last season I did the ligaments in right ankle! (3 months out) now before this season has started just as I've got to what a thought was match fitness and feeling really good, I've done the ligaments in my left ankle! What a pain.

I'm now known as Michael Owen, Abou Diaby, Joe Cole to all my mates at footy!

Love this thread though good to read up on what people are doing as usually its hard to gauge yourself what is "normal" or "good".
