The Exercise & Cardio Thread.

Good idea, nice to keep the weights thread about weights I think!

You are on fire running wise now Club. Brilliant! Have you found that is the thing you enjoy the most, as opposed to weights, or other exercises?

I haven`t had much chance to try anything else yet.Doing 12 hour x 4 nights is a pain in the arse.I can just about squeeze a 5 km run in during the week.Anything else and I`d be leaving for work too late.I don`t see my kids/wife/father,mates or any of the family all week,so weekends aren`t just for me to do my thing, except for when the season starts of course :17:
My mortgage finishes early next year,so I`ll be either going on to days and doing reasonable hours or changing jobs and reducing my working week to a normal 40 hours, which will allow me some more time to play with.
I have been doing some of the stuff Juan told me about, but I`ve had a few little obstacles thrown in along the way.I`ll get there in the end.

No doubt you'll get there, you are on a march mate.

And lovely news about the mortgage as well!

I've no idea how fit I am relative to running , done a fair few miles on the bike whilst I was away and plenty of squats and core stability , so tonight I will run and see how I feel. I anticipate about 5 miles will be fine.

Magic.
See you on saturday then

Just done my 4th for the week.

Bodybutter thinks 5km is a fun run ? He should see me when I`ve finished .....that`d change his mind :17:

I'm not pulling your pud, mate. Don't the kids and charity fellas in silly costumes do 5km?

Just done a steady 5 miles , delighted with my cardio fitness I was barely out of breath , but having said that I found my toe painful when I tried to run at a decent pace so I just took it nice and easy.

Nice one Sir Den, the toe will take a bit longer before it can take a pounding "The bloke said I can run as long as I don't overdo it" Overdoing it is a term that is wide ranging, one mans easy is another mans no chance.

Another 2-3 weeks yet mate.

I was going pretty well preparing for a 10km run until I did my knees in. Then I got sick. I can't remember what happened after that. Now I'm sick again. Perhaps running 10km is bad for you?

Yes the specialist said something similar about the time frame. I was running just over 9 minute miles tonight so I will be happy if I can run at that pace for a while.

BB, I`m 49 and have been smoking for 35 years.Roughly a quarter of a million fags later.....no wonder my lungs don`t like me anymore.Running 5 km for me is an achievement.Running it every day is fuckin amazing, considering the abuse I`ve given my body.
I am still amazed that I am physically able to do it.I doubt I`ll ever be able to run a marathon, but I`ll keep going and do as much as I can and as fast as I can.
You can safely say that I`ve learnt my lesson.
35 years too late,but I`ve learnt it :17:

Why? You've gone from smoking like a chimney to doing 5k a day, and you're still underestimating yourself!? I'd certainly not bet against you.

Juan, believe me,if it`s physically possible,I`ll do one.
I`m not saying it`s impossible, but judging by the way I am after 5km,I wouldn`t raise my hopes to that extent. As time go by,all will be revealed. It`s still early days for me yet.

I love the sound of what VOTN intends doing.
I was running in normal trainers VOTN,until sirdennis put me right regarding footwear.I had my feet checked out in a shop called Decathlon for free and they told me which sort i needed to compensate for the way my feet landed. Since I`ve been wearing them,I`ve found it a lot more comfortable to run and no blisters or pains in my feet.
Where are you doing the triathlon ?
I went to Sutton Park a few weeks ago to watch one,but missed the swimming part.
I`ve been thinking of getting a bike and I love swimming,so the distances you`re talking about sound about right for me.
My cousin`s wife is insulin dependant diabetic and about 53 ish now and she`s been doing triathlons for years and still does them,so i could easily get some advice on the training side of things.

We plan to do the one in Sutton park. They have various events including an Olympic one which is a 3km swim, 100km cycle finished off with a half marathon. Ultimately it would be great to attempt that level but as it's my first I don't want to bite off more than I can chew, pluss this is something to share with my boys and they will be old enough for the sprint event but not the Olympic.
