The Emi Martinez Thread

I am assuming that Martinez is not at the Olympics with the Argentina squad - at least I hope not. We can do without for Douglas Luis for the start of the season, but we can't do without Emi.

Please confirm :please:

Not this classy pair, literally love these two, you wouldn’t think Buendia is a couple years younger than some of the party heads we have at the club would you lol, seems very mature and down to earth, love he is settling with Martinez.

Couldn't really find the right thread for this but this will do. Watch the goalkeepers Union video on VillaTV well worth a watch. Bit dubious about spending the £35 on it but been really impressed with the quality and inside view of training that goes on daily etc. Recommend anyone to give them a watch. I felt tired just watching the keeper training

"There might be worry about me going to play in a Champions League club, and the first thing I said to the director is I want to be here. It is a club who helped me be a number 1. I love everything about Aston Villa." - Emi Martinez interview

Words are words and as we've seen dont tend to account for much in the footballing world but you cant help but love this guy!

Nice. To a lot of players the environment they work in matters. Emi has experienced years of being on the bench at a top but malfunctioning club.

6 loan spells - said he stopped loving football because of it. He's found his home and if we can match his ambitions, why wouldn't he stay - probably got another 10yrs at the top.

Love the guy.
Almost feels like a small dig at you know who. He was one of the players I thought that might of had his head turned with him who shall not be named leaving - clearly not. Hopefully, this is an insight into the squad mentality that they're all pulling in the same direction.
SJM also had some encouraging words this week

Horse shit. He will go with better offer from an oil rich club or so called big 6 .
Fact .

I think he's more likely to stay than biscuit shins tbh as he has spent the first ten years of his career being shunted around. He has found his home here and is performing at a level that gets him plenty of love and respect from the fans. The difference in maturity (he's only two years older) is palpable too...

Hopefully we can push on and he’ll be happy. He hasn’t stood there in front of a full rocking Holte and Villa park, he seems like the sort of guy who would love that and his family.

Yeah and it seemed genuine unlike the forced AVTV interviews they do. Great to see players so passionate about the club

Like you know who allegedly did.
