That Yanited team especially, 10 years ago maybe, but never last summer.
 
The only thing that made any sense at the time and still does was/is £££.
He couldn't have any clue they would have ditched Amorim and then be threatening to qualify for CL by this stage.

Who knows exactly what they waggled at him to get his eyes gleaming, his mouth gabbing off to his team mates and his bags packed ready to go but they made him look a right ****.

Signed someone younger and cheaper and left him high and dry on deadline day, mugged him right off.

Yeah the package they were gonna offer him must've been a biggy.

I don't agree that it's the same as the 2 players you mention though. Man United is still a HUGE step up from Brentford and Wolves, so while I'm sure the money was nice they also bettered themselves on a footballing level.

Emi would have been taking a step back from a stable club with a great manager regularly competing in Europe to a basket case club in turmoil.

So not quite the same, but yes as with anything money talks!

Either way, we're so lucky it fell through and all is now forgiven. :)

Yeah fair point, I guess part of why I named them is they could have went to more stable teams. Tho on the face of things now they’re not (Newcastle and Spurs). That was actually the first red flag with Frank, that Mbuemo didn’t want to go to Tottenham.

Anyway, I think if we had the money Unai would have went for Cunha and I know he would have turned us down.

They are but in his case, with his achievements and legacy already in the bag, going to play for them, especially at the stage they were at, wouldn't have been a ticked ambition box, I don't think.

It's more the case that we have a salary structure that, whilst is absurdly high compared to the fans incomes, is probably capped around half what they could potentially have offered him based on what they were supposedly paying Rashford, Sancho etc. 🤷‍♂️
 
Definitely down to Emi1 again. If he hadnt made that similar challenge at Old Trafford, Bizot wouldn't have copied it tonight. Absolute dick.

Nowhere near the GK of 18 months ago.
 
I don't blame him for the goal, fantastic free kick but his positioning is wrong. Expecting a cross, probably gets if he isnt a yard off his line maybe half a yard off centre such is his ability.

I think everyone in the ground wasn't expecting a shot.
Shouldn't be being beaten from that far out mind. Made up for it with a couple of brilliant point preserving saves 2nd half.

Not a lot to do last night but a great ball for the opening goal and some World class shithousing towards the Lille fans who have had to watch him piss on them once again.

No family holidays to Northern France for the Martinez family in the future I think.
