The Emi Martinez Thread

All our keepers have been injured at some point, except Kalinic, so we had no choice but to play so many. It would help the defence to finally get someone in who can play all 38 games.

When Martinez has played for Arsenal he's done fine, so no doubts on that score. I think the club will have told him how he stands here, which I suspect is competing with Heaton. Martinez will have the shirt and it's his to lose when Heaton comes back.

He's a good age and could easily be our no. 1 for 7 or 8 years.

Good thing is he'll have Heaton pushing him hard too.

Hopefully Nyland leaves now and Steer stays as no. 3

Could be 10 years mate, Friedel finished when he was a few months off 40, No reason why Martinez cannot do 10 years, Heaton is already 36 and if it wasn't for injuries we'd expect more years from him.

So let's hope Martinez looks after himself, it's not like his body has been pushed all these years like a number one, He's been at Arsenal since he was 16/17 years old.

You have to do a quick signup to their shitty website, but the interview is very good.

Shows how much he loves Arsenal, but also says once he moves he never looks back, it was the same when he joined Arsenal and will be the same when he leaves.
He's very passionate and basically no player ever gives an interview when they have left.

11 years at Arsenal since he was 16/17 only turned 28 two weeks ago.

One thing he loves is how Arsenal fans made him feel loved with all the messages they sent, I think it's time we make ourselves known and make him feel welcome like no other.

I genuinely believe Arsenal have lost one of their best players, literally a game changer and I think he will put his heart and soul for this club, He's just that kind of player.

Heaton is 34

Heaton only turned 34 in April.

He's got a good few years left in him too.
You're right, I'm still half a sleep, I keep thinking of the 6 years between him and Martinez so 6 got stuck in my head :slap:
Although you'd think he was 36 with the bloody injuries!
