The Douglas Luiz Thread

On the subject of the call up, in many ways that can only help us (if expectations stay grounded) as it shows players don't need to go elsewhere if they have the talent for call ups to come.

From my first viewing of him I thought this lad is quality. Will take time but I think he will be a star.

Peps know a player and articles today explain what Pep thinks.

Have we ever had a Brazilian international at the club ?

He will be THE man in midfield in my humble . Even 'he who must not be criticised' will find his place under threat.

Im not sure we'd ever had a Brazilian play for us let alone an international. Should raise our profile over there at least.

I'd start him over Hourihane tomorrow. Man city just isn't a game for Connor.

Douglas Luiz will one day be a top quality player for a top, top team. Let’s use him and enjoy him whilst he is here. I don’t understand how he’s lost his place so quickly, for me he is a level above anything I’ve ever seen in that position.

So what is the crack with Man city then.
I thought they had first option to buy if for sale but read an article earlier that seemed to suggest that they could buy back whenever?.

He is obviously very gifted but perhaps not quite hardworking or tough enough in the tackle compared to Nakamba who probably suits us better right now.

Just reading through this thread again, why do people see him as a defensive midfielder.
I see him as a complete midfielder. Marvellous is a specialist defensive Midfielder Douglas can do that role but why limit him or pigeon hole him.

I agree I thought it was Marv who would play more advanced and Dougie would sit deeper but he does seem much more of an all rounder.

DS said he reckoned he was a bit tired so decided to rest him. With Nakamba waiting in the wings probably a good move. Think they're both quality and will do well for us.
