The Chelsea Thread - why not?

Maresca seems to be on a recruitment drive for ex-City players.

Amazes me how any time a player has spent time at the City Academy ensures that should, they subsequently join another PL rival there’s always a hint of “ooh, City slipped up there” instead of highlighting how well these players are progressing in their careers following their start at City (who cannot fit hundreds of players into their first team squad).

I loved Sweep until he did a runner to London and hardly got a game, now he is a former Chelsea star.
I still remember the day when as City were on the verge of playing a pre-season friendly the news broke that he had chosen to go take up the move to London. I was genuinely shocked and saddened.

I hope he sorts out this situation but sadly his decision back then tainted his legacy for me.

Chelsea have reached the final of the CWC. I notice that there is zero chatter in the media about the gazillions they have splashed in the transfer market.

I know I should support the British team but they get such a free pass from the media that I kinda hope they’ll get tonked.

Chelsea have had the best squad for maybe the last ten years, but we have Pep and they don't. You are right though, they do get a free pass in th meja. Even when they sell the odd hotel to keep within the FFP rules.

It goes back further than that for me - they got a pass throughout the Abramovich era where they studiously ignored their excesses in the market and steered well away from their owner’s shady background or how he came into his money.

Life is tough on the waydown. His best bet is the desert, but as a family man in his home town a spell at Palace, or Brenford with a massive pay drop is more likely, but I think he will try for a loan to keep the gravy train rolling a little longer.
