The Cameron Archer Thread

We’ll likely have a harder time shifting him this summer. Our best hope is someone like Boro getting a good fee for another player and we manage to get 8-10m off them.

It will be another loan deal CDX to a club that needs him but can't afford him.

Sure Emery will run his eye over Archer and decided whether he has improved over the past 12 months.

If not, hopefully we can trade Archer for the next Morgan Rogers.

Already done that though hasn’t he. He’d have his staff going to watch Archer regularly in the season. Pre season training and practice matches aren’t going to change things.

I think it’s bizarre this saga with him, but I can see the sense in a way. If he does well we get a better player back. If not we just sell. The latter is cleary going to be the case. He couldn’t get a game ahead of Brereton-Diaz and Mcburnie. Terrible season for him and I think he is championship level only anyway. I fully expect him to go the way of Callum Robinson, Andre Green, Daniel Johnson et al and have a decent career in the next level or so down.

Perhaps we can shift him to Boro in exchange for wavering any further fees for Rogers.

Reading the Boro forum, their fans think very highly of Archer and would love to have him.

Don't imagine they can afford him though.

We paid 8m up front for Rogers and that might rise to 15m. Archer is worth at least double the 7m difference.

He could do a job for a decently set up, lower end premier league side and would gaurentee 20 plus goals to a promotion chasing championship team.

He's worth whatever we can get for him and championship sides don't normally pay much for players.

They only paid 1m for Rogers

Rogers has had a couple of loan spells in the lower leagues and a terrible loan at Bournemouth. Archer is a proven championship goalscorer.

I know but championship clubs aren't paying 15m for players, that's what they sell them for. He's worth that to a PL club but they won't want him. Look at Philogene he only fetched 5m? That leaves clubs abroad who might pay 15m if we get lucky.

Yeah I kind of see £8m+ to be a good fee for the lad, if we can hand him over to Boro in order to eliminate any future obligations on Rogers then this would be decent business.

Not good enough and never has been . Seems a bit of a diva from what I’ve heard on the grape vine and we have massively outgrown him . Stupid deal this to bring him back as he has gone down in value due to a horrendous season with Sheff United.

Whether he stays or not it's been a good deal for the club.

We basically got a £3m loan fee for him as we sold for £18m and resigned for £15m plus it helped with PSR.

He's got some Premier League experience under his belt now so we should be able to sell him for more than we've paid to bring him back....

Lism Delap has just joined Ipswich for £20m so that's a bit of a benchmark.

Get him a good pre-season and I can see someone coming in for him. Strikers are still a rare commodity. £20m for Archer would pretty much cover £25m for Beier - and that would be amazing business. Get it done Unai.

A championship club isn't going to be paying 20 million for an 18 million player who scored 3 goals in what was basically a championship side . He ie championship level I'm afraid .

No way has his value gone up. Well I say that, this is football in 2024.

I'd imagine he'll be off on loan but probably only to Luton, Boro or Burnley in the Championship so we can let him build his value back up. Its possible he stays but he is such a massive and sharp drop-off on Ollie I'm not sure I see him sticking around.
