The Austin MacPhee Thread

25 goals from set pieces last term and has started well this term. Lost Luiz due to finances but gained Onana who looks a lovely target to hit. Have to say we could see a fair few more set piece goals with Tielemans pulling the trigger. Apologies if there is already a thread, couldn’t find it.
Ah, funny enough I was thinking after yesterday what the uptick in set piece goals is under Nanny McPhee came in. Wonder what the stats are before.

This guys had a lot of flack over his time here from some who seemingly can't wait to blame whatevers going wrong on him. We're far more inventive from set plays if all kinds now and it's hard to deny his impact, especially since Unai arrived. I bet he loves the extra detail of having a set piece coach.

I remember a few rumours at the time that Mcphee and a few others were sidelined during Stevie Gs tenure. I can just imagine him suggesting working on some routine only for Stevie to reply "naah". Seems about right that the first goal of the post Gerrard era was a clever corner routine.

We may even see an improvement with Tielimens pulling the trigger - Luiz was fantastic but did seem to go off the boil end of last season. We also have Onana and Rogers to aim for.
