The Cricket Thread

Only just caught up with the Test, had it recorded. What a pisser the way we lost so many wickets cheaply after such a solid start.

Such a shame for Cook as well, would have been perfect leaving Test cricket on a century

Cook's last innings for England and quite possibly the same goes for Keaton Jennings - bowled by Shami after a shocking leave - it virtually took out middle stump. Very, very poor decision by Jennings.

A great knock by Alastair Cook as he ends the day 46 not out. The boy is not done yet! Hope he cracks on and gets a century tomorrow - it would be a very fitting way to bow out.

England looking good on 114/2, a lead of 154. Let's hope we can avoid the customary batting collapse for a change tomorrow and get the lead up to 300 by mid-afternoon, giving ourselves a day and a half to bowl them out.

Wow, what a dream. 1st match = century. Last match = century.

Fantastic.

Now let's hope Root gets his century as well.

The Bears knock over Leicestershire for 100 in the CC match at Grace Road.

Bears currently 21/0 in reply. Great work so far!

Great effort by the Bears - finished the day 190/3, 90 ahead of Leics with 7 wickets in hand. A fine 106 from Dominic Sibley. This should be a routine win and almost secure promotion back to the First Division.

Been out all bloody day, so missed all the excitement. So pleased for Chef and Root needed his century too.

Excellent day for The Bears too. Yeah, should be a routine win, but they play their nearest rivals Kent & Sussex in their last two matches.

India in serious danger of winning this test match! 305/5 with Rahul and Pant going extremely well, and extremely comfortable.

4 overs until the new ball though, so hopefully that should do it - gulp!

Yeah, just checked the score, I was surprised to say the least.

Meanwhile, The Bears are moving along, at tea they are 271-5, that's a lead of 171. They lost a whole morning due to rain - not starting until 2pm.

So England win by 118 runs, and in turn, congratulations to Jimmy Anderson for becoming the record wicket taker, beating Glen McGrath's old record.

:clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

Back to The Bears, they have finished on 384-9 at close of play today, which is a lead of 284. Should be enough, with an innings to spare. Will Postman Patel declare overnight?

He should do, that lead will easily be enough. The weather forecast for Leicester over the next couple of days looks fairly decent so we should have plenty of time to bowl them out.

I am very surprised how emotional I am about Alastair Cook retiring. What a player, what a professional, what a man (by all accounts, I've not met him).

Just pure class and so desperate to involve James Anderson in the walk-off tonight, Jimmy having gone past McGrath o 564 wickets with the last ball of the test.

What an example to young cricketers everywhere the pair of them are. England are amazingly lucky to have had these guys.
