Our player factory. Plenty of recent attention on its success. Why? Are we selling them? Are they having an Impact?

What should we expect? A one in 20 success rate?

Harry Winks. Is he good enough?

CCV. Is he good enough? Where is he?

Marcus Edwards. Too young?

Onomah. No thank you.

Apart from Harry Kane it just seems a conveyor belt of bog average MF players who will end up at Norwich or Hull, and not be able to hold down a regular place even at that level.

How about looking out for kids who can go past someone, or can score goals or have something other than tidy square passing to their game ?

The sooner Carroll goes to Norwich and Onamah goes to Hull the better, our bench is a joke with them on it.

KWP, Amos and Harrison off on loans it seems. Yet to see MrP's belief in youngsters fully in action.

Marcus Edwards ticks those boxes. There is a youngster that Citeh smuggled from under our noses from Flum, on par maybe better than Edwards I would get him. His name is Patrick Roberts; he could show a few of our first team players a thing or two on how to play.

Yep, Roberts is a proper player, but we missed that boat. The goal he scored in the CL vs Man City was class.

Besides Edwards, who obviously has the talent, I'm not sure who can make the grade. Vickers should go for a full season loan in the championship, he is nowhere near ready to be a first team player and denying him play time will stop his development.

I don't know what is an acceptable "hit-rate" but it is probably not that different to most in the PL and worse than a fair few in Europe / World. The only two who are at the level of playing for a top six club it has produced in recent years, are Bentaleb and Kane. I guess we produce more at the lower PL / Championship level. It is massively over-hyped by some and all the "stars" turn out to not be that - Carroll and Pritchard being the latest.

What worries me is if it is true that since EH's arrival, the style of play in all age groups has been altered to suit how he wants to play. That can only sacrifice creativity and individual thinking on the alter of running about closing down..........oh, and ball watching.

Bentaleb, top 6 level.

:3:

No? He showed he was at that level in his AVB / Sherwood season and the first of EH's seasons. Injury then set him back.

Hwever if you take him out of the equation, it means the sum total of Academy products of recent years fit for top 6, halves.

It's certainly over hyped by some. It's clear most will never be good enough or some are just way to young at this moment in time.

I like Winks. Have done for a few seasons. Not sure if he will be a first 11 player for us though. Useful as an impact sub player.

CCV has some tools, but needs games before we can judge him. He has similar qualities to Caulker, but with better concentration.

Onomah is not an AM player. I think he could be useful as a CM. But would need a run of games there at a smaller club.

At this moment in time they are nowhere near good enough for our first 11.

I think Winks looks a prospect with a future at Spurs. CCV possibly, but need to see more of him.

There is this massive bushel somewhere behind which Onomah is hiding his talent, because he looks clueless when I see him. I don't get how Empty-Head can possibly put him into the first-team squad.

I don't think Onomah is an AM BA. I always thought he looked better playing as a CM in his younger days.

I know exactly what you mean about Bentaleb. People forget just how good he was for us before his injury. If he found his way again he'd be a very welcome addition back in the squad.

Tbf, neither Livermore or Mason are that bad and would probably still be decent squad players, but they have ambitions to play regularly and they can do that at mid to lower level sides.

People blast Carroll a lot, and sure he has his limitations, but he's a very tidy squad player who can always be depended on to do a job when needed - even if he's not a world beater.

Talent wise maybe Bentaleb would be part of this team. Attitude wise, never.

Just doing some research on Benta, looks like he started off poorly and his attitude was being questioned. His form has improved and he has 5 goals and 2 assists in 21 games for Schalke. Yellow card friendly with 5.

A great podcast on what is going on at the academy!!!!!!!!
