The 2026-27 Premier League Thread

Spurs have a large squad at best of times. They are buying as if money is going out of fashion. They will this weekend return from down under where the youths did quite well and others are battling for game time. They are not in Europe so 38 games plus cups. Who will De Zerbi put in his 25 and who will be deadwood? Fancy any of them. Some big ego’s. Loans if not buys. See they are in for a big Nigerian centre forward. No not Awoniyi.
Yes, but they do not have to declare Gray, Bergvall, Souza or Tels as part of their first team squad as they all qualify as part of the under 21 ruling.

They can make Bergvall sit on the bench all season if they are that way inclined; on the other hand they may need the money

And that will help squad morale. He wants away where as Tel, Grey etc don’t yet.

An interesting article projecting where each club is regarding SCR

Of course Chelsea are projected to absolutely smash it, but there will be no sanction if they do

Fulham and Bournemouth currently looking ropey and we have little headroom

Chelsea need to go on a selling spree - 41 players on their books at present. There are definitely some that I would take a dart at but later in the window when they are desperate…

Does that include Anderson money?

I can't follow the link for whatever reason...

But it appears that there is stuff going on behind the scenes that really matters and affects everything that no-one here had taken into account.

If only someone had mentioned that possibility before...

We are into a new season and new rules and sold a player for £116m, spent no money so how are we over the spend limit?

Its suggesting wages and transfer fees amortised from previous years signings is taking us over the threshold

And we have lower threshold due to the lower turnover

Does make sense

But I expected we started with a clean slate tbh after the old PSR

It would be the fact weve spent heavily in recent years restricting us now

Thats going to mean we will need to keep selling a big money player at least each season to keep reinvesting

We have to be careful not to lose too much value on MGW by running his contract down too much

But at same time if this is true why are we linked with so many random big money signings

Unless we are selling another big money player

Agree, these amortised transfer fees soon add up alongside a likely high wage bill chap. It further explains why we may be strict on how far we are willing to go regards the price for buying players.

Finbar has assured us that following Anderson’s sale we have a minimum of £116m to spend.

Has this been added to the " The number of Newcastle fans in a poster's 6 a side whatsapp group spreadsheet" chap?

I was going to update it as soon as he let me know where the other 3 are from, in the 6 a side WhatsApp group, chap.
