So , new head coach , new philosophy, new fitness coaches , new players with a history of not being injured , several in depth investigations into the pitch , the training ground , the Gym and the equipment being used , and new Heads of Departments in players conditions and physical activities.

A new season , a new thread .

A new beginning

The Spurs match commentator mentioned them both by name during the game today when the camera picked up the senior players in a box at the stadium. He speculated on whether they might feature in the Chelsea game, I feel sure he would have pointed it out if either weren't fit to do so fingers crossed for them.

I looked to see the game but on the match thread there was no TV link. Was it on Spursplay?

Yes it was 54, all of the pre-season games have been live but the NZ game was too early for me at 4am! There is a full match replay available from it now and I expect the Sydney game will be soon if not already up. The Chelsea game is live on Saturday morning at 10.45am.

I did a bit more digging and the fernandes knee is something and nothing. Just a bit of extra rest they reckon.

Good god that would be just our luck

Regarding injuries, (apologies as I may have missed it) what is our medical team looking like now?
Wasn't there a big recruitment drive last season to improve our injury and recovery record going forward?

After Dan Lewingdon as appointed as the club's performance director in October 2025, who was the former director of player health and performance at the City Football Group responsible for medical, sports science, nutrition and psychology across Spurs' men’s, women’s and academy teams, he had added a number of people:

Marcattilio Marcattilii (first-team fitness coach) Ali James (now head of medical services), Tom Tombleson (head of athletic development) and Agostino Tibaudi (strength and conditioning coach) have been added to the club's performance department.

Considering we had 1-2 revamps in the medical department, did we find out if there was negligence or incompetence in the previous medical staff?

There's no hard info that I've heard or anyone I asked, it seems once again that nothing could be pinned on anyone except our training/specialist rehab facilities - which are now being rebuilt - as they were deemed substandard by PL standards (which I admit I was shocked to hear); but of course, this is on the injury management side - the suspicion is still on our weaved pitches (we train on different pitches that mirror our own and others). But the evidence is still inconclusive, although I did hear of another club (that I cannot name) who is going to replace all their weaved pitches to natural grass again.

"..Changes are also taking place at Spurs' Hotspur Way training ground to overhaul the gym facilities, while a pod-based model has been implemented.
The pod-based model sees four to six players work closely with a physio and sports scientist, who concentrate on smaller groups, so staff better understand the needs of the players and better decisions can be made about their fitness and rehabilitation..."

Have you heard if the club has considered replacing the weaved pitches?

The amount of injuries we got in two seasons is too high that personally I would make all changes even if the evidence is inconclusive. The

Our first one:

Understand Rio Kyerematen has suffered a hamstring injury and will be out for a while. Rio had an outstanding pre-season with the first-team and has impressed Roberto De Zerbi and the first team coaching staff. Speedy recovery Rio.
