The 2016 Ryder Cup!!!

One Bloody Number
It's here!! :4: :4: :4:

Can Europe make it 4 in a row? Well not according to the bookies who have USA @ 4/6 and Europe @ 2/1

Can kind of understand that, with home advantage and more of the better ranked golfers with more experience, but... Europe always find a way!!!

Some good matchups in the opening foursomes -

Spieth & Reed vs Stenson & Rose
Mickelson & Fowler vs McIlroy & Sullivan
Walker & Z Johnson vs Garcia & Kaymer
D Johnson & Kuchar vs Westwood & Pieters

Stenson & Rose have won 3 out of 3 of the matches they've played together (bad news for me as I've had a tenner on Spieth to be top points scorer. lol)

McIlory is on fire. But so is DJ.

I'm gonna predict 2-2 after the morning session.

The Willett issue seems to have affected him. Apparently he was swinging like... well like me, yesterday.

If I was Danny I'd be smacking the idiot right in the chops. What a stupid thing to do.

For anyone who watched the golf yesterday, Pete Willetts was absolutely 100% spot on...the American crowd was indeed a "Braying mob of imbeciles" and a bunch of "Classless Bastards".

Shouting for the European players to hit into a lake or bunkers before and during their shots is bad enough, but personal insults and obscenities is way over the top.

They won the Ryder Cup in 1999 through this sort of behaviour and if this is the only way they can win it again, we would be better off just giving them the cup!

Us Americans are a very passionate bunch, so when you have an article like that come out (and unfortunately most Americans especially in the Midwest don't get tongue in cheek humor) it brings out the asshole in us.

Look at sergio and Rory though, they're loving and feeding off it.

Patrick Reed, what a guy!

It's not golf when you have spectators getting unruly as they are allowed to carry cans around the whole course. The golf is sensational, no problem with the passion but the idiots in the crowd, i.e. those carrying booze around instead of binoculars cross a line. One of the idiots has been booted out as Rory took exception to his abuse

They are just absolute clowns

No, the ball won't be getting in the hole when its bouncing away from the flag out the back of the green you prize knobbers.

Golf isn't Golf when the fairways and greens are surrounded by pissheads.
Cricket isn't Cricket when it is watched by drunk people in fancy dress chanting football songs.
Football isn't Football when there is no standing areas, sit at all times, prawn sandwiches everwhere

The world is going mad. Bring back the old days and for those who don't remember them, well, you don't know what you're missing

In all honesty though, what a day of golf today. The Rory vs Reed match and the Sergio vs Phil match will go down as two of the best in Ryder Cup History. I mean the quality of golf played by those 4 was just unreal and a hell of a lot of fun to watch.

Can't wait for 2 years time in France, should be just as fun.

Great golf yesterday. That Mickelson v Garcia match... WOW!

As for the issue of the fans I think it needs to be remembered that 99% of the American fans behaved just fine but they were let down massively by half a dozen complete idiots.

American deserved it in the end. We had too many rookies, and Willet and Westwood who were just plain awful.

Pete Willett letting rip about some of their fans

The last 7 paragraphs are a good read

Memo to Darren. Dont pick your mates. Hopefully in two years time the yanks will have forgotten where France is and stay at home. Danny Willett ( who was poor but then except for one week he's been pretty poor all year ) wasn't too complimentary about American fans today. We also need 4 picks ( actually 12 would be better ) as people who are playing well might get a chance but then I suppose DC would only pick Lee 12 times anyway.
When you see what Sky are doing to sport to get their ratings up, it makes you want to cry
Too much money in footy
T20 and other limited overs cricket
The Tiger Woods Show and Ryder Cup Golf
etc etc.
end of rant.

Interesting Oscar, did Sky do a lot of Tiger coverage? Over here in the states we had a three question, thirty second interview with Tiger after the US won, but nothing else really. That would really have annoyed me, people need to come to grips with the fact that Tiger is not the story anymore and he won't be ever again.

Watching DC's speech during the trophy ceremony, I think he said it best when he said that putts fell for the US and didn't fall for the Euros this time around. He also said that two years ago it was the exact opposite and that if the putts fell a bit different the US could have taken it home. I think he's completely right to be honest, it could very easily have gone the Euro's way this year should a few burnt edges have turned into the cup.

I'm of the opinion that the Captains really can't do much wrong with the exception of captain's picks and pairing two guys who really don't want to play together (only example I can really think of is the Mickelson/Woods pairing like 5 Ryder Cups ago). I didn't mind DC's picks too much, Kaymer is a 2-time major winner and really didn't play terribly bad. His putter was cold, but so were a few guys. Westwood is the only one you can really be mad about, and I'd say that the Thomas Pieter's pick more than made up for that one as he was incredible. Should he have taken Knox over Westwood, probably, but Westwood isn't a bad player and has a lot of experience.

Overall, I agree that there were a few morons in the crowd, but I thought that the rest of them were fantastic. I mean you could hear roars from all over the course and I think that's awesome. It's slightly reminiscent of a Sunday at August with the roars traveling through the trees. That's pretty damn cool.

My old near neighbour Lee Westwood is finished as a top golfer and was only picked due to him and Clarke being mates.
No doubt it will be their last ever Ryder Cup.
