The 2015 Grand National

One Bloody Number
ok, ok, bit early I know with over 3 weeks till the race, but just thought I'd start it to get any Ante-post tips out there.

I've just put my first bet on.

Roi Du Mee @ 80/1

It runs in the 4:45 at Royal Down today and is even money favourite. I'm assuming if it wins its National odds will drop so I ddecided to get in early.

Fingers crossed.

My other 3 early fancies are Godsmejudge, Al Co and Night in Milan at 25's, 40's and 50's respectively.

Think I'll wait a while before putting those on though. Next scratching stage is Tuesday 24th.

Love it when a plan comes together..... it won, and odds at Ladbrokes have now dropped from 80/1 to 33/1.

Feel like I've won already. :-)

So much for planning ahead and getting in early. Roi Du Mee was scratched at the last declaration stage.

B0llox.

Oh dear .

I am beginning to fancy Unioniste , but until we have some idea about what the ground will be like I am not committing myself.

Interesting selection.

I tend to follow the trends and he hits most of them, the only thing I can see going against it is its age. Don't get many 7 year olds winning the National. In fact the last one was 75 years ago.

I saw that and Paul Nicholls said records aree there to be broken and the horse doesn't know he is seven.

I must admit to a bit of sentiment as I backed Neptune Collonges at 33-1 when he won and was also a grey and had the same owner and trainer.

Can't ignore Balthazar King. Ran a great race last year and these type of horses have a habit of coming back and running well again.

I don't know '57 the race has always been kind to me.

My most memorable National was when I backed Aldaniti to win in 1981 , the same day we went to Leicester and won 4-2 in the title winning season.

Went out to celebrate that evening I can tell you.

I still remember my Dad winning big on Minnehoma, Freddie Stars horse.

My Dad isn't a big gambler at all. Think the National was the only thing he ever used to bet on (so I dunno where I got it from), and he's usually have 4 or 5 horses and put a few quid on each.

But one year completely out of the blue he just but £15 each way on Minnehoma instead and won a few hundred. Never seen him so happy. lol

I remember backing Seagram...can't remember what year, but I only backed it because the National was being sponsored that year by....... Seagram.

That's the only time I have had a big bet on the National 14\1 if i'm right had followed it all season just stuck out for me.Did you know the owners of Seagram had offered to sell the horse to the sponsors before the race but they declined that was a bad decision.
