we use them and have done for some time - we are an entirely paperless business (from an internal pov) everything we do we do in Sharepoint; (so we are entirely Microsoft based and don't use any open standards etc) which works on any hardware and we have no need for third party tools, we create , design and workflow all our forms inside it - works a treat.

The key is making sure you understand what you want to do with them, who and when you're going to share/send them to outside your origination etc If you've got the equivalent to ISO Quality management System in place (I think Canada are party to the same standard?).

You can use all this with andrioid based devices (browser compatibility dependent), but we choose not to, as we integrate everything into our BI portal/management reports.

essentially means I can monitor the business processes and differing businesses remotely, anytime, anywhere including seeing all what every member of the differing teams are working/collaborating on.

I love it -.. :17:

Is the location of cloud data storage a concern for you? ie in the US and subject to the Patriot Act?

It's a non-issue for us, Msft have local hosting centre's in Dublin and Holland and now the Uk - I really wasn't phased by the issue before and I'm even less so now that we've elected for local cloud storage.

People get bent all out of shape over this stuff, believe me I know from my GCHQ contacts that data access on any platform anywhere in the World really isn't the issue for agencies that some think it is. Even on premise is now readily hackable if you want to put the effort in and have the know how (really not that difficult if you're persistent enough!).

The biggest data leak in most organizations isn't your IT infrastructure it's the people using your lifts everyday and the way they allow data usage and consumption to compromise the business.

Out cloud only approach has heightened and tightened our security and data integrity now, not the other way around (as well as or DR planning)..

we could if we wished almost do away with our offices now, but there would be cultural issues that I'm not yet able to confront... :10:

The cultural thing is very tough. There are some serious trust/confidence issues to deal with.

I think I have said before that we don't have a set amount of holidays for people. They can take any amount they want whenever they want as long as they coordinate with each other. They also can't take more than two weeks off in a row with out everyone's approval. They know what they have to get completed and when. And when not to be away.

That type of environment is driven by working side by side each day as a unit.

You know virtual team working and BI insight pretty much allows us to do that now (as we do most of the time) and really isn't dependent on being in the same office, if all can see the projects as wip progress and interrogate them and see what task they own and when and do the same with their colleagues all you have to is the means to have a transparent collaboration environment, which we do have :-)

Does anyone have any recommendations on which video conferencing system to use?
