Team v Shrews

Scrappy start. Oliver should have done better when put through by Samuel (who was taken out by the defender), Oliver shanked a good chance from the edge of the box under little pressure and for some reason the ref failed to take it back for a clear caution on the player who took out Samuel. However, it got worse from the ref, as Ogilvie was absolutely cleaned out as he attempted to clear the ball - should have been a foul and minimum of a yellow card, but no foul given and Shrewsbury scored a weak goal from a defensive point of view from the subsequent corner. In experience from the young Gills team, both with the dealing of the corner and the reaction to the clear foul on Ogilvie - the ref should have been surrounded before the corner and, had that been the case, I'd not have been surprised to see the ref blow for a fictional foul on us from the corner.

Early days though and scrappy - we certainly have better players than Shrewsbury going forward in Graham, Samuels and Oliver.

We've heard a lot of comment from opposing managers and teams about us being thugs and direct - dread to think what they'd make of Shrewsbury!
