DF looks tired and not his usual excited self.

So DF has said no matter what happens we are not signing anyone else:

It will be quiet for us today. We have a group of players together to concentrate on playing football games. All of our business has been announced. Done'

There was lots of speculation around our players. It wasn't great to lose Jamal, Ben or Timm Klose, but I'm delighted we're able to keep the likes of Max, Todd, Emi, Adam Idah, Kenny McLean and so on.

Some early excuses about if we don't perform well tomorrow - The international players didn't sleep well.

DF says Mumba is not going on loan. He says Mumba is a first teamer and would start if it wasn't for Mr Barcelona - Another little dig.

DF says that they are thin at central defence and the club tried everything (reminds me of us scouting the world for a new manager and ended up with NA) but couldn't get one in ------- window not closed DF

We are thin on centre-back because it was an unexpected loss of Timm. We tried to sort something out to bring a centre-back from abroad in but we would have had to spend unbelievable money.

He doesn't mention the young CB but says it didn't make sense to bring in a forth CB as we have Tettey. OH FING HELL

In January, we will need to do something. On this level, you need four centre-back options with so many games. That's the only position that worries us.

So why didn't you bring one in now??? It is obvious Webber has said 'No more money will be spent'. I mean by January our season could be over and we could be playing with slow tettey at the back....why wait until january? Prices go even higher.

Is it just me or is that just bonkers?

He then uses a line he used all last season - we just need to pray players stay fit and we have luck.

Yes, we need some luck in terms of injuries. We try to prepare for the worst case, but right now January isn't too far away. We have to deal with the current situation. All in all, I'm pleased with our setup.

How are you preparing for the worst case Daniel? By not getting a forth CB in, by think tettey can do a job?

DF says it was Klose who wanted to leave:

It was difficult for us to allow Timm to go, but it was his big wish. I think we had to accept and understand it. You know how much I trust and value him - I wouldn't let him leave before.

Timm & How his agent behaved was top class. We knew it would leave us in a difficult situation, but we couldn't disallow it and kill his dream of the Euros.

again it is crazy. He says that they knew it would put the club in a difficult position with lacking CBs but they let him go. Why didn't you get someone lined up then you plonker?

DF seems to suggest that maybe Trybull had a few attitude issues:

Tom always wants to be on the pitch. When he's not, he can be moody and his body language can be not great. In the summer, we had to make a decision to add physicality and pace in midfield with fresh legs and faces. We brought Skipp and Sorensen in. No other club than Blackburn called us in order to get him. If Tom wins the Championship title for Blackburn all alone, we should have kept him, to be honest!

Hernandez out (as we know)

I made clear that we need Onel on this level. He was crucial when we won the title, so it's a big blow for us. He was moaning about his adductor and went to see a specialist. He needed complicated surgery. There are some injuries that I have never heard of here, but we can't change it now. It is a chance for someone else to shine'.

I do worry that we are starting to pick up the injuries again like we did last season and the club just seem to be going down the same path as last season. Dowell - Hernandez - Byram & Hanley (picked up another injury preseason) - Placheta

Pukki is fit (sounds like he will start)
Placheta back but not 90% so maybe a late sub

DF says that Zimmermann should be out for only one game but we will see Tettey or Hanley to step in but Hanley is not match fit ---- FUCK ME we are back down to one central defender haha.

DF says that they have been working hard on breaking sides down.

One topic we've worked on is cracking deep defending opponents. It's tricky when many of your offensive threats aren't available, but we tried to work on it with those who were here so that was beneficial.

Let's see how that pays off. I remember we were told they had worked on stopping goals going in from set pieces and that didn't help
 
Oh, another injured player:

Sorensen - been training but just not ready to play football and will not be involved. It is all about when he can play.

Where do we get these guys from?

He says he watched Pukki and was glad with how sharp he looked.

I watched him too and I thought he looked just as poor.

Why can't he drop Pukki, why?
 
DF learned FA from last season with CB being out. Zimbo is a sicknote, so is hanley, and he says tettey ok at CB, what planet is DF on seriously, and SW says no more money to spend? WTF
 
Finally he says Todd is in a better place:

'Todd has presented a much better mindset in the last week in training. We've had a long and deep conversation. I don't expect a world class performances, but the last week has helped a lot for many of the players.'

I guess that means he apologised to the squad and manager.

Get him back in as I am sure he'll want to prove himself again.

I thought the very same when I saw that. We are blind to a lot I think. It came across as if Webber looked a foreign market saw it was too expensive and then said sod it. Maybe he forgot the window is still open.

I honestly think a lot of it is down to Webber and board. DF I think obviously wants another CB but Webber has said 'go with what you have and let's look in January'.

I find it so ridiculous though that we started this season with

Famewo - Zimmermann - Hanley - Klose - Godfrey - Gibson

and here we are now with Gibson - Hanley - Zimmermann and Zimmermann is out and Hanley hasn't played in about 9 months.

We are in the same fucking position as last season. Hanley will pick up an injury again. We could be playing with two central defenders on saturday who have 1 game between then in like 9 months

Agreed, it is utter madness. Got tons of money were sitting on (well delia is) build a fucking strong squad SW wtf are you doing mate, we cant reply on outscoring everyone again with pukki so out of form and having such a leaky defence.
 
They will not spend money in January. They will bring in Famewo from his loan and send Omobamidele out. We should have kept Famewo here.

He is doing a job a charlton and in my eyes was better option than Klose and Tettey/Sorensen.
 
Do Rotherham have any quick forwards? If so they will have a field day against Hanley who hasn't played in months

I understand the reasoning behind these decent players who are nearly first team squad player ready, to go and get game time instead of sitting on the bench but Now ist the time to bring FAMEWO Home.
 
This transfer window went from fairly decent to very poor quickly for me! We have once again failed to act and bring in defenders when we are desperate for them. There is no other club on the planet that would let defenders be sold in a window without first having a replacement in place. We all know what NCFC are like, even if we had 5 CBs we would be struggling to find a fit pair for most the season how are we going to manage until January with 2? I know what DFs answer will be - chuck Tettey in there... I know it's not his fault but I've remained optimistic and supportive of SW but I'm starting to get worried now. I hope results prove me wrong.

Agreed and with what you say Nathan. We seem to punish ourselves for no reason.

Obviously sounds like DF didn't want to let Klose go and that Webber allowed it but the reason for not getting a replacement was poor. That they searched Europe but the values were too expensive so they stopped. I don't believe this and if it's true then go for a loan or search the British market. Look at the loans/deals that went through yesterday.
 
I hope that now DF has said no more transfers tgst mean none leaving and that means emi and Todd can just get on with things. I still think they will look to go in jan.

Exactly , it's the same old story every season repeated - "We Scoured Europe" excuse from a few years ago is still fresh in my memory. Other clubs yesterday, same level as us with much less resources and money brought in strong defenders. Swansea bringing Ryan Bennett in I believe on a free????? It's just unforgivable. He'd have came here in a heart beat as he still supports us (I remember him coming to numerous games with Maddison since they both left) and we'd easily offer more than Swansea for him. I just can't understand it!
