Hands up anyone who knew about Zone 14?

Inverted Full Backs and their benefits: A look at what we might see at Guardiola’s Manchester City

Good read that, thanks for posting Skoorb.

I take it there's 18 zones altogether then?

When I went to see the EDS play against Bohs last summer they were playing this inverted full back system. I've since asked around and it seems it was fairly regularly deployed by the EDS on Vieira's watch. So Paddy didn't just go to Munich for a holiday and some photo opportunities that time

Not sure how many zones there are. Need to look into it a bit more.

I have caught a couple of Viera's matches in charge of NYCFC and haven't yet detected much of this type of movement - it might be too early in their progress as a team and a league. They also have the ageing Lampard, Pirlo and Villa so the higher tempo pressing required may not be practicable. NYCFC aren't doing too bad though under him - led the table for a while and still in with a shout of the play offs. :026:

I read a piece about Henri when he played for Barcelona. He came inside to find the ball, scored and was taken off at half time for not following orders and keeping to his zone.

I think we can count on the rags falling over with the slightest contact attempting to win really cheap free kicks in zones 4, 6, 13 & 15 as they play the tactic of "kick it up the air to the big blokes in the penalty area".
