Swindon Town (h): Who Would Be In Your Starting XI?

Beat me to it Rottweiler - I was going to say Vickers and ten others. I really have no idea this time as I think DC will have learned quite a bit from the first game and may change things up a bit. Expect the usual suspects, Eardley, Frecklington, Green, Toffolo, Bossie, etc, but rest may be quite different. Chapman to play if he's fit, though may be off the bench.

Vickers
Eardley Wilson Wharton Toffolo
Anderson Bostwick Frecklington Andrade
Green Akinde

Smith, Crookes, Pett, O'Connor, McCartan, Chapman, Rhead

Vickers;
Eardley, Wilson , Wharton, Toffolo;
Frecklington, Bostwick;
McCartan;
Akinde, Green, Andrade

This is looking like our starting eleven (in my opinion) for next few games unless we get any signings today or bring any loanees before end of month.

Can see why you’ve chosen them but what formation? 4-2-1-3? That’s a 0-2 and chuck the kitchen sink at it formation

I really don't know as I cannot decide on my favoured formation yet let alone who should be in it. DC has good problems up front. I feel Rheady is nailed on as sub for the time being and Green, Akinde, McCartan are his favoured experienced three but a certain Mr. Andrade is doing his level best to break into that and four into three doesn't go. DC quandary is Green just scored the winner, McCartan is here with a view to being signed so will expect to play and Akinde is the club record signing with an impressive pedigree at this level. Vickers has just cemented his place and Waterfall leaving means the defenders pick themselves but is it a three with Bossie or a back four? Then in midfield we have numerous options with Pett and Chapman pushing strongly and O'Connor cannot be far off fitness wise who is surely earmarked as our play maker when available. Throw in the possibility of new signings and I can see it being a while yet before a clear picture emerges for DC let alone my irrelevant opinion. I would imagine DC is going to be a lot more flexible this year judging by his comments generally and previously stated admiration for the way Tisdale got his players switching in games. Will flexibility prove to be a good thing or would we be better off with a settled formation and regular 11? Fascinating to see how it pans out.

I can't see us going totally gung ho with three out and out strikers so my guess would be Vickers; Eardley, Wilson, Wharton, Toffolo; Bostwick; Andrade, Frecklington, McCartan; Akinde, Green.

Wilson Bostwick Wharton
Eardley Tofollo
Freck O'Connor/Chapman
Green Akinde Andrade

Seems to me DC wants to play 3 at the back so maybe Bostwick will drop back from midfield. That would leave room for someone to partner Freck in the middle (maybe Chapman, although I would prefer O'Connor if fit). The wing backs and keeper pick themselves. The front 3 however will be interesting. McCarran was our best player pre season but he was completely nullified by Crookes last Saturday so maybe Andrade to come in, tough call...

I see it more 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 with Bozzie as the DM in front of the back four.

Not sure the McCartan role worked well on Saturday in the AM role but it was game 1 of the season so we need to see how it goes with different players.

We'll find out on Saturday what DC is planning to do!

I think he will try and get Bruno in the side and with Waterfall leaving he wont have to drop anyone to do it. 4 2 3 1 for me.
