Sweet childhood memories not tainted

Let's have a chat about those happy TV/radio memories of childhood of those whose reputation hasn't been tainted (I hope aren't still to come out of the woodwork)

Me I was just thinking of The Goodies. Who can forget there 'Inbetweenies' record, and yeah many of you probably want too.

Tim-Brooke-Taylor, Bill Oddie and Graeme Garden. For some memories

Benny Hill. A strange one but had audiences on both sides of the Atlantic clutching their sides with laughter with his politically incorrect brand of humour.

I spent one of those ridiculous wastes of time looking on YouTube for the comedy stuff that they used to play on Ed 'Stewpot' Stuarts Saturday morning show. Some of it had me laughing still.

Dave Allen sat on a stool with a glass of whisky and a fag.

Ronnie Corbett taking 3 hours to tell a 2 minute story

Ronnie Barker.... the sketch when he tries to order a round of drinks but every time he orders one of their drinks,he orders himself a g & t or something and ends up completely shitfaced.

Dick Emery , Mike Yarwood , The Two Ronnies , Morecambe & Wise.

Loved all those Saturday night shows when I was a kid

Half of these guys mentioned were paedos, wife-beaters, racists or violent drunks, but hey, don't let facts get in the way of your nostalgic feel-good fantasies.

Yeah he was so funny. The start of satirical comedy it was once said.

I could miss some of his stuff as was always too busy laughing

Cheshire cheers for that. Made me smile. Funnily enough I was only talking about My Brother the other day with Mr K

It's true but the other half were alright.

I don't think any of my childhood memories are tainted by Rolf Harris' paedophilia. The best memories I have are of playing outside with other kids.

Arrrrr sensi soccer BB dude, now that was a game and half on the Amiga, i looked at getting me an old Commodore Amiga a while back but they are going for like £50/100, thought they would be down in price by now, P.S SORRY FOR OFF TOPIC i couldn't resist, my bad!

Saturday morning kids tv - The Banana Splits with all the cartoon shows as part of the programme (Arabian Knights for example), and The Monkees at teatime, oh and Summertime Special live from some big circus tent at various seaside resorts as well (with Mike Batt singing the theme tune). I remember as a kid of about 10 watching The Goodies, Fawlty Towers, Benny Hill Show and It's A Knockout. Such a shame that some of those we enjoyed watching had such a vile secret that taints our happy memories. I'm currently trying to find copies of every top 40 hit from the 70s and I've unearthed some absolute corkers/one hit wonders. Listening back to them now evokes so many memories of what for me was a golden decade. Who can forget that boiling hot summer of 1976? (unless you weren't around or old enough to remember of course lol).

And as a teen in the late 70s and early 80s it was Tiswas (ahhhh Sally James, The Phantom Flan Flinger, Bob Carolgees and Spit the dog, Lenny Henry of course and Chris Tarrant) or Saturday Swapshop with Noel Edmonds, Keith Chegwin etc. I remember watching that phone in when 5 Star were on and this kid rung in and told them what he thought of them. It happened to Matt Bianco as well. I was rolling on the floor laughing my head off at that one.

Some fab memories there too, starchild. It is strange really there is only a few of them who have tarnished our memories. There are far more that haven't.

The negative always seems to over ride all the positive. There is still plenty of good memories you have all shared. Thank you :18:

I remember some of them star aswell, doesn't time fly by, i still see Nick off art attack i watched as a kid today on Citv lol he has been going for yonks, i hope he don't come out as a bloody peedo or Gordon the gofer or Edd the duck then i will have lost hope!

Just thinking of the radio stars back then. Start of the day with Noel Edmunds. Followed by Tony Blackburn, Johnnie Walker, I think it was, Diddy David Hamilton and DLT. (Not sure if I should be putting DLT in there though he was found not guilty as he still has 2 charges to go to retrial)

Stu port on Saturday mornings too. Who have I forgotten?

I know when I watched Art Attack, the presenter was Neil Buchanan, is that the same guy you were thinking of? I didnt know that this Neil was a guitarist in a heavy metal band called Marseille. But yeah time sure is flying by now. I can remember baby sitting for my sisters kids and now the eldest is in his 30s and the youngest is married with children herself now and she's almost 30 as well. Don't know about you guys and gals out there but when i was young a year seemed to last about 3 years and now they seem to go by in the blink of an eye.

Totally agree starchild. The youngsters today say the same though, now. I think that the massive changes in the world is why. You don't have time to be bored today, with how the world has changed. The worldwide internet has seen to that.

Bit fedup, go and have a roam around the world, on virtual. Poorly in bed, get the laptop and so on.

The world is so different
