Sweden's War on Sex Continues

The Swedes have just passed a law requiring explicit consent before sexual contact with the burden of proof placed on the alleged attacker. That means that you have to keep proof that the women you've slept with consented in case they accuse you of rape.

Placing the burden of proof on the alleged attacker is legal madness. Unless you can prove that you didn't do it, you are going to prison.

It sounds like madness but let's see how the courts interpret it, after all, it really is being done to try to remove ambiguity and as such, protect everyone other than actual genuine rapists.

Does Sweden have a massive problem with sexual assault?

I remember reading that they wanted to extradite Assange on charges of rape because he hadn't worn a condom despite the sex being consensual. It met the definition of rape in Sweden but it wouldn't have met the definition of rape in other developed countries like the UK.

Are Scandinavians genetically predispositioned to rape (and pillage) or are they over-compensating for their ancestors?

Imagine trying to get your leg over and having to get your desired partner to sign a consent form first. Talk about a passion killer!

Good question, Oslo is (or at least was until recently, I've not bothered to check) the "rape capital of the world" so there is obviously something in the culture that either predisposes to rape or something lacking in terms of stopping it.

I'm pretty sure the Julian Assange question is a bit more complex, how would you feel if your adult daughter had had consensual sex with a guy, assured he was wearing a condom only to find out that he had taken it off without telling her? Take it a step further, what if she became pregnant or was infected with and STI as a result? Is not the wearing of the condom part of the consent in this case and if so, is it then non-consentual sex when the condom is removed without the woman's knowledge or agreement? Does this then not constitute rape?

His side of the story is that she knew he wasn't wearing a condom but wanted him to get an STD test the next day. He was supposed to meet her in a park but she reported it to the police instead.

According to him, she reported it to the police to compel him to have the test but the police then decided to persue a rape case against him, against her wishes.

To answer your question, I would strongly advise my daughters against having one night stands. If they choose to do so, they have to accept the risks that come with it. The spectrum of human sexual behaviour is very strange and women are very vulnerable in those situations.
