The table looks a much better read this morning, we are 15th on 48 points, with six teams and seven points between us and the bottom three, and a step nearer safety.

Coming up is the second game of a three match week where we host another team desperate for points in Plymouth. What our tactics will be for this one who knows, but as we keep on saying on repeat, it’s only the points that matter at this stage.

Bottom club Plymouth produced a shock 2-1 win over play-off outsiders Norwich at Home Park on Saturday for only their second win in nine games which puts them four points from safety with six games left and a big confidence boost coming in to their clash with the Swans.

Plymouth have won only one match in their 20 away games, one less than Derby.

Plymouth’s last 10 matches W3 D3 L4 F13 A15 compared to Swans W4 D2 L4 F9 A9.

Plymouth’s last two away games were a 1-2 win at Portsmouth and a 0-0 draw at play-off hopefuls Watford.

The reverse fixture against Wayne Rooney’s Plymouth last December produced a 2-1 win, Fulton and Cullen for the Swans.
 
An unhappy season for Plymouth so far.

On 25 May 2024, Wayne Rooney was appointed manager of Plymouth on a three-year contract.

On 31 December 2024, seven months later, with Plymouth four points adrift at the bottom of the table, Rooney left Plymouth by mutual agreement.

Swans ran riot here tonight as they got stuck in to Plymouth. Fair play to Sheehan he really got the team wound up. Plymouth had to win to have any chance of staying up, but an O’Brien header from Ronald’s cross put us 1-0 up after only four minutes. Further goals from Darling and Key and Swans were coasting. So many chances missed and even more second half, what a dominant display. With 70% possession, 18 shots and 6 on target we should have had more goals, Vipotnik and Eom the culprits. No complaints though as we produced back to back wins and two clean sheets and the six points gained should ensure our safety.

Unfair to single anyone out but Allen was at his best and went off after 60 mins to a standing ovation after a midfield masterclass.
