Swansea v Nottingham Forest, League Cup Third Round, Wednesday 17 September, 20:00

The League Cup brings us good memories of winning this trophy at Wembley in 2013.

Nottingham Forest bring us memories of winning promotion to the Premier League in 2011 and that amazing Darren Pratley winning goal against them in the play-off semi-final.

Memories are all we have now of those halcyon days of Swansea City.

Back down to earth and it’s Forest who are now the Premier League club whilst Swansea languish in mid-table in the Championship.

Can we cause an upset, definitely. Is it possible or improbable, you decide.

A falling out with Forest’s Greek billionaire owner and head-coach Nuno Espírito Santo resulted in him being sacked. Forest quickly moved and appointed a new manager Ange Postecoglou, who himself was sacked by Spurs after winning the Europa League although struggled for results in the Premier League.

Forest lost 3-0 at Arsenal on Saturday in his first game in charge.

Will both teams utilise their squads for this one, probably. Who has the stronger squad, undoubtedly Forest. But, it’s the Cup, which as we know is a great leveller. We are at home and will be looking for a Cup upset. Should be an enjoyable match, see you there!

I hope we go with something like this line up tonight

Fisher
Parker - Casey - Burgess - Samuels-Smith
Galbraith
Yalcouye - Widdel
Benson - Idah - Inoussa
I count 7 changes from Saturday but that's a decent side especially if you put in Benson and Idah. Keep Galbraith in.

I'm not sure about parker at RB and it'd be good to see the new LB in to give Tymon a rest

One of the best nights of football seen at the .Com for a long time. Brilliant win for the Swans in poor playing conditions with the rain and despite the renowned and historic biasedness of anti-Welsh referee Madley. Blatant penalty right in front of him ignored and four bookings for us, waving play on for Forest’s fouls.
All three Swans goals were excellent. Vips scoring his fifth consecutive goal from an acute angle and Burgess with a header and a volley, he’s our new goal machine.
Scenes of joy at the end and what a comeback.
A quick turnaround for the Birmingham match, recovery today and travel tomorrow for the early kick-off.
