Looking on the positive side, with only seven goals conceded this season, surely we have the backbone of a good side. After all it’s the first thing any new coach would try to do, get the defence right first, stop conceding silly goals, then move on to the midfield to try and create goals and the forward players to score them.
Well we’ve got the first part right but creating chances and scoring from them is somewhat of a problem.
Since Cabango scored in the 15th minute against Bristol City we’ve gone 467 minutes without scoring again.
What’s the answer, well there are several experienced coaches at the club that should be capable of sorting it out without any amateur input from us armchair critics.
On to the negative bit, our player recruitment has generally been poor, coupled with interference from our long distance owners, the relentless selling of our best players and the cut backs to the wage bill, it’s no wonder we are not making progress.
Millwall are the visitors this Saturday for our first home game in three weeks. A positive is that we are unbeaten at home in the 5 games so far, with 6 goals scored and only 2 conceded.
Millwall was the final fixture of last season and ended in a 0-1 home defeat with a 72’ goal, Yates and Tanganga sent off and Grimes missing a penalty.
Ex-Cardiff boss Neil Harris, now back at Millwall, said after the game
“Swansea had the ball exactly where we wanted them to have the ball. Two touches in the penalty area in the first 45 minutes. They didn't have a shot on our goal until the penalty.”
